i thought i would skip actual cards this year (amazing as it was once a favorite thing of mine) but the cards are here, so i'm working on quickly responding. i noticed that the cards are ALL from people my own age or older. everyone else does the e mail thing. every year i feel the BIG CHANGE more. luckily, i can remember my grandmother's generation commenting the same way on stuff like this in the 70's. that actually helps. reading the stages of life in a textbook isn't the same as hearing it in real life from real people.
as always christmas is here and so is the melodrama that goes with it. grrrr. also the tragedy. the woman down the street has a zillion people at her house. her husband (ex) died. he was 55. wow! heart attack. w says he was a heavy partier. but it wasn't liver failure. just a happy drunk kind of person. i saw all these young people walking around wearing black and red and heels. and young men in partial suits. so you know something is going on.
i still have calls to return for adoptions. went to a christmas music festival with j, and the spa on the same day i painted the front of the house. i'm exhausted. still more to get done. and more shopping to do. rn was here with byn just in the garden area as he gave me a list of costs for all the repairs that he can do. the next day she had the flu, so just dumb luck that we were outside and not inside, though i was at her house the next day, hope i don't catch her flu and sorry she is ill holiday week. it was 84 degrees over the weekend so ideal for painting. paint needs FIVE HOURS to dry and it has to be over 65 degrees. i never knew that.
the latest study on happiness claims that "gratitude" makes people feel happy. if you are grateful for the good in your life you will be happiest. they said no one expected gratitude to be the key to happiness.
saw k for dinner and he pulled a ligament in his arm. pulled out the tree from his shed for him. he doesn't like the tree up until christmas eve. i'm with him on that. i like the 12 days of christmas. i don't like celebrating "sales" at stores, instead of the real holiday. amazing that the whole thing has become so twisted.

Love that doggie!
you are QUICK larissa! lol. will be over shortly to see how you are doing.
I love your photos! LUCKY DOG!! LOL...so cute!!
84 degrees is ideal for painting? Surely you jest! I\'d pass out in that kind of heat!! You have the humidity down there too. NO PAINTING in that kind of heat for me, and good on you for doing what you can!
I can remember when absolutely everyone sent Christmas cards. ME TOO! But I slowed down over the years. My friend\'s list got smaller, and stamps got expensive, and people stopped sending them to me....next thing you know....we all get e-mail cards! I have to tell you. I appreciate the thought. But I don\'t like receiving them. I\'d rather have a written note or a quick phone call any day.....don\'t like e-mails. I feel like I\'m one of a dozen, and somebody just hit \"send to all\" and 20 of us got this card at the same time. I don\'t feel very special, or loved. I\'d rather just not get them.
Hope you\'re ready for the big day! Be careful painting! No falling off the ladder!! MWAHHHHHHHHH! Enjoy!
actually i used a chair (which i hear is worse) the stuff real high up i didn\'t touch. yeah, christmas cards are beautiful. and stamps are expensive. everything is different nowadays.
