"The problem with some people's interpretation of the Bible is that the meaning of words change.
A prime example is 'Spare the rod, spoil the child.'
A rod was a stick used by shepherds to guide their sheep to go in the desired direction.
Shepherds did not use it to beat their sheep. The proper translation of the saying is:
'Give your child guidance, or they will go astray.'
It does not mean 'Beat the hell out of your child or he will become rotten' as many religious fundamentalist parents believe.  TOTAL IGNORAMOUSES!!"

LOVE this stuff.  Its like a total wake up call.
Did gardening today.  had to cut down the thorn bush for like the fifth time since moving to the beach.  it always grows back.  will pay to have it dug out this time.  also found i need to repair part of the lattice fence around the garden.  this is a yearly thing.  every storm we lose part of the fence.  grrr.  so much for wood if you live beside the ocean.  it decays, just as metal rusts very quickly over here.
talked to br, who is having a ncis night.  i forgot that he does that.  i wrote it on here now hoping if i write it i will remember.  hoping to see him before he leaves for his next gambling junket.  must be nice to live vacation to vacation though, but i think he gets bored too.  he only works in the summer nowadays.  his stock is doing well.  its BIOTEC for anyone living on stock.  bought for 30 per share and supposed to go to 200.  we shall see.  so many people have lost everything they have living on stock and real estate.  he says the woman across the road that i caught in HIS BACKYARD TWO TIMES!!! while he was away, is selling coffins.  i thought he was kidding.  i guess that is a recessionless business?  lol.  though i heard toilet paper factory was recessionless and that place recently closed down.
which prompted me to look at facebook people who are in that business or were who i know.  everyone's lives seem to have altered in a couple of years.  they say not to divorce when around the 45-50 mark in life.  seems to me, in three years, everyone's kids are graduating high school etc., and many are either divorcing or moving away, like they had been waiting for that.  never would have guessed it 3 years ago.  would have hoped for the best.  though inside you always know, as you peel the onion it will reek.  i think that is what is depressing about facebook, more than that its everyone's best moments and none of the reality which is what the article was saying.  for me, the delusion is actually more fun, when i hear the details, its depressing.
my uncle mark put the youngest twins photo in a contest in england.  lol.  they look like bernadette peters when she was young except the twins are babies.  i didn't think so, and then i looked up bernadette peters photos when young and the babies do look like that.  he doesn't act like that normally so its funny.
had dinner at k's.  very elaborate and perfectly done.  how does he find the time?  he made a 7 layer lasagna, and chicken/broccolli fettuccine and a huge salad with EVERYTHING in it.  he is drinking brewed tea now, instead of coffee and had pepperidge farm layer cake, most of which i like, except i don't like red velvet doesn't matter what brand.  we are treating elizabeth the siamese who is seriously ill with mange.  so she is back on ivermectin.  something really needs to be done with that as we have had to treat her on and off for many months and since she was a kitten, she always has things wrong with her.  she also ONLY likes k, will eat for him only, take medicine only from him.  grrrr.  its been going on like this for at least 3 years with her, maybe longer.
have noticed my whole life has changed since big and michele are gone.  its weird.  i took care of them for over seven years and never realized there was so much extra burden in that.  always the extra thought for them in everything, how do people do that when its humans for long periods of time?  i'm still working that out...

this is bernadette peters, the twins look verrrry similar except they are like two years old.  lol.

I totally agree with you, 79. \"Thy rod and thy staff, they COMFORT ME\"...that\'s what the Bible says about the \"rod\". People need to read a whole verse and chapter...not just pull out one verse in the Bible and try to apply it. There\'s more to one verse....than just itself, and taken out of context, it can be misconstrued!

Reading your journal has just made me hungry again! For LASAGNA! SLURP! LOL..it\'s only five thirty in the morning, and I\'m thinking pasta! I need to read your journals before supper!

Bernadette always made me laugh! Love her voice! xoxo

haven\'t seen it. i\'m reading a layman\'s commentary on the bible, it was on sale at one of the church\'s thrift stores. wonderful. reminds people its only a BOOK, but its a very human and very relateable book. that its oriental, as is all history from that area (the east and the middle east) and oriental roots are written poetically compared to our own culture that takes everything literally. totally loving this bible commentary. it breaks it down, just like when i was a religion major in a secular university. religion there is more like a history of all religions, major. no theology at all really. just an examination and they mix it with history at that time. bible study for adults does the same thing. i think a lot of people are shocked when they study religion as an ADULT because as small children they are taught so many silly things with religion and it doesn\'t occur to them, that it is taught on a level that a small child can understand and its supposed to be interpreted PROPERLY in a person\'s 12th year of study as an adult. the problem with that is most people don\'t bother with 12 years of bible study, because the early years of it are portrayed in silly ways, unless its seen as poetry and then it makes sense, like okay, what is this painting what is this really saying? its a culture clash that makes it not work for so many people. very sad.

i got the quote from beaumont, carly. i don\'t know if he got it from television. i don\'t have cable at home for the passed two years. got myself off of the addiction. yay! but i would have watched it at k\'s, except his father was a minister and he has issues with religion that have nothing to do with religion at all. he was the organ player at his father\'s church and he resents that he had to do this for so many years. he\'s still licking his wounds over this. lol. he doesn\'t like being volunteered for things without consulting him.

at the house up north i could watch it, when was it on?
