PHOTO: BACK FROM VACATION
back from "vacation" not sure i like vacationing local. i got to spend an extra day because i fed the animals in between. i had to return to make sure payroll went out, but that was my fault, i think someone else can fax. grrrrr. the younger ones don't know how, they e-mail, the older ones, SHOULD know how, but they work earlier hours and payroll is sent out in the evening and collected BEFORE office hours.
the timeshare was a hi-rise on the ocean about an hour from the house down south and two hours from the house up north. i miss hi rise living, nice to be there again. nice and clean and immaculate and as john the photographer used to say, "comfortably numb" -- for me, it was nice just being in a hi rise. but their pool was cold, so my vacation is still on, i'll have to put in swim time in our heated pool locally, thank you. the jacuzzi was hot and very large and salt water which is different. they also have a lock out at night at the pool area, kind of weird but a lot of the resorts have that. this one closed at 11, which is typical. some have 24/7 and advertise it that way. cool. their bedding was as good as a westin hotel, but without the freezing a/c of a westin. westin's don't allow you to open windows nor control the a/c, so we don't use them (westin's also charge for EVERY extra thing and timeshare never does). beautiful and soft bedding though. very well done. was advised not to buy the meal plan and didn't. though i can see getting it if you have kids that are around age 12 who want to be independent (though is that safe? everything seems unsafe everywhere). the people across from us, stayed at the resort the entire time, attending activities and going to the ocean. different. the point of a vacation is to get away by doing and seeing things you don't normally get to do. sometimes if you work 24/7 the best vacation would be sleeping for a week, but not at your own house. lol.
the meal card has money on it and they swipe it for each use. everything is done with plastic cards at this place. how does that go? are they microchipped like our cars are nowadays!?
allll of our vacations are going to be local this year, unless i lose weight. if i lose weight, i want to go to the timeshare that teaches surfing because i want to do the kite surfing thing. won't hold my breath.
had two health scares when away. i learned i have to take my blood pressure pill, with food, WAIT, until the pill does its thing and levels it all out and THEN use the 104 degree jacuzzi or bath or whatever i am aiming for. even their sauna is locked which is scary. most saunas are open. its dangerous to be locked.
went to hope store after we checked out and shopped for animal supplies at the mini mall near there. a woman at hope store (which was mobbed - if you need to open a business, open a food cooperative, bump and dent, its near the price of a dollar store, but some things are like 70 percent off) was saying her daughter has chicken pox, so she left her home. i'm thinking GREAT, shouldn't the woman also be in quarantine so the rest of us aren't exposed? she says her daughter got it from the library. yuck!
they had a movie on the ocean. very cool. but it was an action film. still a wonderful idea as at the ocean resort areas there are no bugs. you could be on a lounge or in the jacuzzi or floating in the pool and watch the movie, so one up from jacuzzi and a movie. but still one down from a live band, like the hi rise "inn" used to have ten years ago - its still there, but it was bought-out and its not the same. totally redone and pretty, the pool at the "inn" was HUGE and really was heated and nice and warm and a pleasure.

My mom had a stroke that was just due to her smoking and she still hasn\'t quit. I wish she would.. I don\'t know what it\'s going to take for her to quit. I\'m sorry J is smoking... any kind of smoking is bad.
i had the heat on at night all week set at 80. only js stayed all week, most of us only got a few days from it. we went through a year of short vacations like this back in 2005 and 2006 and ended up with 7 small trips in 18 months, which was totally refreshing. you adapt to it and it realllly does help to get away. makes all the difference. we were on a high floor, so you lose a degree for each floor up. its 90 outside so floor one or two is 90. by the time it hits the top, it doesn\'t even need a/c its only around 80 and super nice.
j is smoking cigars now....EVERYTHING smells like cigar smoke. he has also tried pipe tobacco. how do you get that out of your clothing? not as bad as the sour smell of cigarette smoke, but not good. the luggage also has the same cigar odor, and it leaves remnant, just like cigarettes. i WASHED the luggage and the water was light brown. so this is the latest new thing. hmmmm. clf died of mouth and throat CANCER 4 years ago, i think it was (he used to chew tobacco and he smoked) would think that would be a red flag, hey don\'t do that. i\'m due for new luggage, so aiming back to hard-sided this time. its cleaner, more distinct and rugged for the airport and i can just wash the exterior.
you are QUICK! larissa, i was editing and moved it around. be by shortly! lol.
Glad you had a good vacation time, 38!! I love hi-rises. Never chose to live in one though....could have! If I had it to do over again, I would try it! I\'m with you on taking several mini trips throughout the year. That\'s what my hubby and I do. I don\'t enjoy being away from home for too long. It doesn\'t serve my illness well. Three day weekends at hotels all over the place are my fav. Do the local sightseeing and shopping, eat out, enjoy the Jacuzzi......that\'s what we like to do.
Sorry about the cigar and pipe smells. There\'s nothing worse. Like you said, there\'s always a smell left behind and it doesn\'t come out of furniture....or even your hair! YUK! Hope all smoking desires are left in the ashes by your friends and loved ones. I quit, eleven years ago. Don\'t miss it. Wish I had never done it to begin with.
Glad you are home in one piece!!! Look forward to your next short but sweet time away! oxo
we were away for 7 days, 8 on paper but check in is really late, after 4 p.m. its all different now. it used to be 12 then 2 now its 4. and check out used to be 12 then 2, now its 10 a.m.!!! because of the animals my vacations have been five days for the passed 10 years. i would love a month abroad or something similar (like a YEAR abroad. lol.) still trying to figure that out.
I love the photo! Glad you had a nice time. =)
sounds you had a good time, and you shouldn\'t take saunas with high blood pressure, it raises it so its dangerous, I used to go every Friday for several years, but stopped with fibro, had palpitation, now I keep cool, be careful, love L******
