we had a bad storm last night. i didn't even know this until this morning. i went outside and there are branches down all over the place. could explain part of why i kept waking up all night, but i never noticed the rain and wind at all - no idea why. lol.

I sometimes think the test is not so much talent, which is not as rare as people think, but purpose - which manifests as the ability to find a place with a lot of solitude, peace and quiet - and being self-driven to keep working.’

i got home early, by 9 p.m. and settled myself into the other bedroom with the baby lamp (i like baby lamps, especially in bedrooms. they are more fun. this one revolves and throws off different shapes. lol.) sat down with the newly discovered laura ingall's writings from the ozarks (discovered in 1991 - laura ingalls died in 1957 at age 90 and a niece found this so many years later), the book the four agreements and another that i just started "daughters of memory" by janis arnold. i also have three of the four penderwick book series, but not sure i'm going to read them - they won mulitple awards, but have boring art work on the covers and the names of the towns and characters are strange - or maybe i just don't like her style of writing, it seems affected to me - so far i never read those books, they just sit.
i read the intro to the four agreements, which is written beautifully and fell asleep until 12:30 a.m. so much for me. i'm still sick, so i guess that is part of the reason why i nodded off and i keep tiring out. the laryngitis is much improved and seems to make everyone relieved that it's going away. (me too). hard to understand a person talk who has laryngitis.
went to the town shops in the afternoon to buy pants. i gained 20 pounds, so i need pants desparately. omg! i now wear a 22 tall and i'm not tall, but that is what fits. also found 20w also fits, found a pair of ralph lauren adelle pants (wonder if its named for fat adelle the wonderful singer - and now i am obese myself. lol. i really need to do something about this weight - should be my number one new year resolution. wish i'd take it seriously). also found lovely books in the book section. love that. and outfits for the cabbage patch dolls. they are also hiring at the town shops for many positions which was a surprise since our office park has been firing supervisors and managers for over a year now. three were just let go for no reason at all (probably making too much money?) in december and january. one of those supervisors had been working there for 25 years! he was given 3 months severance and no explanation. very sad.
went to the spa after shopping but couldn't stay as long as i wanted to because i had a chiropractic appointment, which i had to wait for when i got there anyway. totally different at the clinic tonight. everyone in a better mood. also my lab results were in and all negative which is GOOD. yay me. if i don't lose 75 pounds (just to be normal weight) they are going to start testing me for diabetes and pre-diabetes. j has pre. i had pre ten years ago and it went away by avoiding all "white" food, that suzanne somers thing, my doctor at the time was in shock that i got rid of it so quickly. lol. also avoiding excessive cake and sugar ever since. k also had pre, and suddenly stopped serving desert about two years ago. i guess we all have this. american food is loaded with sugar, even our bread is full of sugar. and all that sugar makes everyone obese, diabetic and congestive heart failure. though in celebration of the new year, k made brownies. the book "sugar blues" claims sugar is more addictive and worse for you than heroin.
also went to publix tasters. it was good this time. publix had bar cakes on sale buy one get one. i bought an italian wedding cake (a favorite of mine) and a chocolate one for the new year cake, which i was craving. been chowing on the chocolate one ever since with grapefruit juice as a chaser. i couldn't resist because i missed having a chocolate, chocolate chip cake for celebration of happy birthday 2016 and i guess the italian wedding cake will be the christmas cake (i was sick since the 23rd of december so just catching up now). i also cut my drinks to half glasses only, as alcohol also has too much sugar as well, followed by full glasses of water. can't eat food without wine and water.
headed to the marina. hope the storm didn't do damage down there as well. weird to have high wind and rain in the middle of winter - its normally dry and mild in the winter in florida.

I had missed until just now that you\'re from Florida. I grew up there. I have been noticing all the storage weather recently because of all the family and friends I have back there. AND you live on the coast, lucky you.
Just today, a friend was asking me did I hear the heavy rain last night. Nope. I had on two fans and was listening to an audiobook. So much better than the ringing in my ears.
and getting stranger -- they had tornadoes in central florida last night. a lot of damage. makes no sense. it should be dry and mild right now. windy this morning and then beautiful this afternoon, but again more damage and more branches. so odd.
\"writers, artists, musicians, inventors, scientists\" i would think that would be a large portion of the population, so i look it up in a personality profile book. its not. scientists and inventors are 1% of the population each. artists and musicians 15% at the most and that is combined. writers have the larger percentage, around 25%. hmmmm. so what does everyone else do? so less than 40% are these solitary, focused people and then 60% are doing what? just wondering
