Pharmacies by mail

My stress level is somewhere high enough that I can see there really is a hole in the ozone.  I know people have much bigger problems than mine but sometimes I think, if one more thing happens, so it does.   I used to go to the pharmacy and give them my prescription. They used to give me my medicine. If there was a conflict with any other medicine I was taking they would tell me. I used to pay them a co-pay.I loved my pharmacist. Over the years he became a friend. He knew my voice and used my first name. When they bought him out, he told me good-bye and that he would miss me. Other people decided it would be cost efficient if our group used mail ins. In the time since then the company we use, a large, unnamed corporation, that we all know and love, has decided that in the interest of saving them, and me of course, money they had somehow acquired the right to get in touch with my physicians and talk them into changing prescriptions into something other than what was ordered. The result in the past was one change to a less effective generic drug.  The newer and better solution went by the wayside until they decided not to cover that kind of drug at all since OTC drugs were similar if you bought more. THe next episode happened when I changed from an ineffective drug to one that really works. They tried again to make the change back to the old generic drug.  Now I managed to hold this one by insisting the results of my bloodwork was evidence of effectiveness.  It is a much larger copay on my part but it works.  THe generic was money out the window.   Now, I mailed in a prescription 16 days ago for a drug I had researched and tested with trial packages from my doc.  A week later they had no record of it.  I requested doc call them (He makes it a rule never to call in a prescription to cut down on errors.)  Doc calls as a personal favor.  A week later they call him back and get him to change it to a generic my insurance covers.  He thinks I want this change and does it because I can't be contacted at the time. One day I will get a different med than I researched and tested because it will save me money and of course save money for the medical company that makes these decisions for me.  The only real difference I can see is that one med has side effects for heart patients and the other more expensive and tested product does not. I am so insensed that I would take a pill to help calm me down, but, oh yeah, I DON'T HAVE ONE.  It is so aggravating to lie awake  angry and feel so powerless when your medical decisions are being made by a company with an eye on a dime.  And, this is nothing compared to what people are going through that are seriously ill.  It is just a look at how some of us are losing control over how to deal with our health.   I miss my neighborhood pharmacist.  I miss somone who cared.

YOu know what Soapy? You have brought up some very important issues, here! And I think it is high time to do something huge about it, since this problem is starting to pervade many people\'s lives.

What about contacting one of these shows like \"20 20\" or \"Dateline\". I really think that this issue is valid, and affects far more folks than we can imagine. If this trend of pharmacies insisting on telling us which meds we will take......continues to snowball any more......... We may as well be in a communistic country where they make all of our decisions. We are supposed to have freedom, and I don\'t think that\'s asking too much! Really, seriously, please contact one of the shows. You might even get interviewed and participate on it, which would mean that they\'d pay you a little something, which will cover the meds of your choice for a while! Please do it, or let me know if you decided to do it! I\'ll support ya 1000% of the way!
