PF stats

i belong to a couple of online forums for people who have PF. it is encouraging but at the sametime it becomes depressing as well.
I find a certain amount of strength knowing that i have so many others out there, just a moment away online, who face life every day like i do. people that are easy to reach out to when i'm feeling low, or having difficulty with health. people who have or are walking this path. it is reassuring at times. it is encouraging.
yet, when one of those members dies, it is a stark reminder that every journey has a destination. and the destination for this journey is death. it reminds me just how deadly this disease is. i did the math and every fifteen minutes, someone dies from PF. that does not include the other deaths from kidney failure, liver failure, heart disease, that are brought on by PF. that would just about double that figure. then the reality hits me hard.
there have been too many times that as i began to get to know someone, they die. it is frustrating. it begins to wear. i begin to think, "what's the use?". why should i even try to meet and make new friends when the time frame is so short, or even worse, if i have so little time left. and yet i am not anywhere near the end yet. i hate this....
and yet.....some people here at the lake have made incursions into my life that brings so much joy. it helps me move beyond the cold, harsh stats about PF. true they don't understand what i am going through. they can't fathom the feelings that hit me at times. all they understand is that life is short. that it can be cruel. and that they just want to extend a hand of friendship....and it brings me back to the present....it reminds me that life can be wonderful...it can give us joy in spite of the impending storm on the horizon....and that after the storms have passed....there is the hope of the rainbow appearing in our sky.....
