Perspective

Man, do I need to stop my belly aching over my husband's sentence.  I just read today in one of the boards that a mother has a son in prison for 130 years for Child Porn.  My husband has been sentenced to ten. It means that I'll get to have some years with my husband once he's released.  This woman won't, and my heart breaks for her.  What is it with these over zealous prosecutors.  Oh well, can't do anything about them....except try to vote them out of office.  The prosecutor up here where I live won't ever get my vote again for anything.
One thing that I did do this week that I am proud of, and that is I calmly told my mother that the next time I come see them, which will be in two and a half weeks, I really don't want to have any serious conversations with them about my husband or my future.  I explained that it's an upsetting subject for both of us and it just ends up ruining our visits, which are precious as well, given that they are over 85.  I asked her if I was being unreasonable, and she said I wasn't.  During that talk I was quite magnanimous.  The reason why I brag is because this was a breakthrough for me......actually behaved like an adult, calmly setting boundaries for both of us.
So, I slog on looking happily towards that day when I'll be reunited with my husband and perhaps hopefully some healing will begin with my parents and hubby.  After all, when I told mom that he'd just as soon die than to break the law and see me suffer again, she was actually quite pleased to hear that.
For all the wives and mothers and daughters out there that are slogging along and have to deal with much longer and extreme sentences for the same charges, I salute  you and stand in solidarity with you as you stand with the ones you love.
Peace.

Thank you and yes they are giving out some stupid long sentences.
My husband may or may not get out depends on Parole hearings as he has 10 to life
