Personal grooming and the kid

I've been having a problem getting the kid to groom. She refuses to take showers, brush her hair, brush her teeth, or change into clean clothes on nearly a daily basis. Last Wednesday I stopped into work to find out if I was working on Friday morning (covering for a coworker), and one of the other cashiers that I barely know was working. Yesterday, she came in when my shift was over, and commented that I looked better than I had on Wednesday. Well, Wednesday I wasn't dressed up and had on no makeup. My hair was a mess, because I'd been working around the place (lots and lots of cleaning to do after plumbers/well guys did their work), and I looked a site. It dawned on me, after thinking about her comment, that I haven't been paying strict attention to my appearance and, well, oops! If I make a better show of myself when I go out maybe she will, as well. So, I'm going to try to remember to put on makeup and dress in better clothes whenever I go out from now on. Maybe it will help. With the amount of messy work involved in living on a farm, working in dirt and muck, I guess I've let it slide abit. I am going to make a real effort to not let it slide anymore.
