people w/ head injuries should read this//62% of accidents r from daydreaming//joke cat photo

"...millions of sensations bombard us every second, the brain sorts through them to allow only the most important ones to become conscious—for instance, you don't notice what's in your peripheral vision unless something moves there.

protects the brain from self-destructing - If it allowed too many sensations to get through, we would be paralyzed by the massive sensory overload - ptsd and all the side effects of ptsd.

The downside to this is that your mind has a narrow attention span, so it will wander— a lot -- distract you long enough to expose you to danger while doing other things.    Daydreaming can not be eliminated, only minimized.

how dangerous is daydreaming?  depends on what else you are doing....operating machinery or while driving...daydreaming is very dangerous while doing that.  Are you a surgeon, performer or trial lawyer... daydreaming not a good idea - any distraction is deadly, especially if you are a surgeon?

researchers found that one in 10 accidents are attributed to distraction, and 62 percent of those accidents are from daydreaming—five times as many as talking or texting on a mobile phone.   The study was based on a nationwide database."

That\'s crazy! I daydream a lot, and it\'s one of the reasons I never got my driver\'s license. I just practice driving every now and then on my permit. I\'m thinking of getting my license, but I don\'t know. I would have to do it in my mom\'s car. My car is a boat and too hard to maneuver.

I was wide awake and not dreaming the first car accident; the second car accident woman front -ended me while I was crossing an interesction on a green light. I only daydream when I sit back and daydream, and usually that\'s meditation. Maybe people who daydream and have all of these accidents should meditate, and they wouldn\'t have so many. Mindfulness is embedded in me.

I know people who have successfully harnessed and walked their cats! I\'ve never been that fortunate. However, I have no desire to walk my cat! That\'s why I became a cat lover! I was single for many years and would take off on weekends and disappear. The cat would always take care of herself. No need to walk her. They go in the liter box.....they entertain themselves. You can just simply leave enough food and water out, and go on your merry way!!

Much easier than caring for a pup! I love dogs, was just always an apartment dweller, and dogs weren\'t allowed.

Love the cartoon! xoxxo

I daydream all the time. If I could sleep at night, I\'d dream then too.....!!

i love the cat photo joke too! i used to have cats that i could walk and a third one that would trot RIGHT BESIDE me either because he was smart, or because it was a tremendous rescue and he feared losing me? he had the smell of death (which is actually dehydration) and greasy dirt all over him. owners died and their kids/heirs left him and he had no clue how to fend for himself (no way to do that in some suburbs anyway), how do people live with themselves. he looked like a possum, he was so greasy and thin and everyone said yuck, don\'t SAVE that one, its almost dead -- don\'t bring him around here. i knew nothing about animal rescue back then - it was 2001 i think, gave him food and water and he finished a 16 ounce container of water by the next morning, so he was verrrry thirsty. he lived under our neighbor\'s boat for about the first week, and i sponge bathed him back to the beautiful white color that he was (you\'d never know it). when he filled out he was BEAUTIFUL, long necked and HUGE. what a beauty. a friend of mine from college adopted him. what a great cat! i never tried a harness though, but i have seen it done.

i noticed that when its late at night, like 2 a.m. and i\'m driving and NO ONE is on the road, i\'ll get confused if i see a red light, like hmmmm, is that a blinking red (it should be) or a real red and i\'ll stop, but i can see where the confusion comes from for many people.
