I have been in a blue funk. For a variety of reasons. Spring weather brings with it pollens that do not agree with my sinuses and for some reason, spring is a downer for me (maybe it is the pollen). Anyway I have been doing a lot of crying and feeling sorry for me. And poking Tiina to do the cookbook (she is diong a fine job. I just have to remember, she works better under pressure!) I am also knee deep in community work. We are planning a community picnic. Unfortunately, we waited too long to decide to do it so we are scrambling.
Whine whine whine.
I am surfacing now though. I got some sinus meds and have been walking every day this week. I feel soooo much better when I walk.
I am also feeling wonderful because we talked to our granddaughter today. She wants to meet me in Thunder Bay when I go there at the beginning of July (it is about half way between Ottawa and Calgary). She is not sure she can get the time off. But I am so happy that she is even considering it. She told her dad what she was thinking of doing. He said "I'm not going". She said "I didn't invite you!". I am sure that makes both Harvey and me happy!!!
It has been a tradition that we take her somewhere in the summer. That is all I am doing in the summer this year, so I guess she wants to continue the tradition. I just love that girl to bits!
So, I was down in the dumps but now I am happy - as happy as I can be without Lisa. Even if Cevyn can't come (work etc), I am happy that she has decided on her own.
Lisa: Your daughter is the best. I know you are up there organizing. I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

You do all the right things, Marlene. Working for others, involved in the community, speaking and visiting with your wonderful grandaughter. Still, the loss is grievous! WE all feel it.
I think, as we get older, we become more vulnerable. It\'s as if the distractions of our younger years, don\'t hold our interest anymore. I keep trying to reach Mimi, my Israeli grandaughter, and cannot. Just get the answering machine. Hope I live long enough for her to search me out. I am waiting for this.
My grandson, Jake\'s son, Yosef, is still in school in France. No idea how he looks now that he is growing up. It\'s really not nice that his mom doesn\'t send me anything. I think she\'s angry at me, something about not telling her of Jake\'s problems before the wedding. It\'s not proper in Judaism, to say anything negative about our children. So I don\'t, didn\'t.
Change is always difficult and summer is on it\'s way. Seems to have gotten here awfully fast this year. I know that your wonderful, miraculous energy, will take charge of you and your moods. We do try our best, but loss is grave. Love, abby

Those endorphins we get from walking sure can help lift the spirits.. I am sorry you were in a funk...they just come up without warning sometimes...you are one of my heroes, so don\'t forget that someone out there wants you happy!
Walking is a good thing. I am trying to walk the stacks in the library so far this week I have done it three times. Hope to continue for the summer. Being busy does help. Continued good work with community. You inspire all of us. Keep it up. Peace, Kathy
I hear ya Marlene, I\'ve also been in a funk this spring, for some reason I noticed this spring hasn\'t been much of a spring either we go to cold to hot nothing in between any more.. Walking helps a lot, but when our energy level is down its so hard to get motivated..Love and Hugs, Kelly
Glad the dark (emotional) clouds are starting to clear a little. I truly believe that emotional pain is much worse than physical pain. I have been down a bunch since I got home from Disney, l guess that\'s why I conjured up that Branson trip. But the kids don\'t let me stay down long, they keep me too busy. My son Jim lives on the property next to ours so I\'m with his kids a bunch each day, especially when school is out and the pool is full.
Just wrote you a long comment and is just disappeared. Augggghhhh......
Just wanted to say I am proud of you and all you do for your community. I couldn\'t keep up with you if I tried.
I do hope your beautiful granddaughter gets to meet you this summer. The relationship you have with her is so special.
I am glad the \"blue funk\" has gone and you are back to your normal self :)
(((HUGS))), Julia
It\'s a good day when the \"blue funk\" is gone!! I hope your visit works out with your granddaughter. ((((hugs)))) Vicki
Marlene...I love you so much and I\'m happy you are feeling better. Granddaughters can do that to us.
You have a great relationship with \"C\" she will always be there for you and with you. My grandmother was there for me when my mom passed, we always had a good relationship and I could rely on her for a lot of things. When I grew up my hubby and I had a good relationship with her and grandpa. Do not fear she will always think of YOU !
I only now realize that grandchildren are healers once Mike left this earth. So you take care of those sinuses and the rest of you.....
Wrap my arms around you with tight hugs
Penny
Spring sometimes makes me sad... I love the coming of the flowers... warmer days... the freshly cut grass smells so good... I am lucky not to have sinus problems... but... Spring is full of life... and Cara\'s not here... and sometimes when I look across the yard so nicely cut... I want to scream for what isn\'t... I find it hard to be grateful in those moments... Its hard... I am glad you\'re doing good things for yourself... you have memories that Cevyn well need more and more as she grows up... I do hope she can get the time off... so I\'ll pray for that for you all... Looking forward to seeing you in October... Hugs Elissa
Gratitude is felt when the funk is something that we\'re coming out of, I know.
Hoping that your granddaughter can be with you in Thunder Bay and as you said what a wonderful thing that she thought of it and sought you out. :)
I always enjoy hearing about your community endeavors and YOU are just the BEST with reaching out and caring for so many dearest Marlene. I know that Lisa was very much this way too so the apple didn\'t fall far from the tree now did it?!
Love and tight (((hugs))) and fewer sneezes, I hope!
XO Joanie
I love you, Marlene!
Marlene, sorry you had to be stuck in the blue funk. Glad it is lifting. You mean so much to your dear Cevyn. You have a beautiful bond.
Love to you and Lisa, Linda
Love you, Angela
