Pensive

This has been a bit of a strange week.  Nothing dramatic, nothing depressing, just a week.  I guess I have lived with so much drama for so long, I really don't realize that life can be calm.
Of course I miss Lisa every day.  I fervently wish that I could turn back time.  I get frustrated watching all the bogus weight loss plans and products.  I am even fed up with Dr. Oz.  He touts health but a lot of what he preaches now is weight loss products, and skin creams to smooth the wrinkles.  I never realized wrinkles were a health hazard. I also get a bit defensive when they insinuate that if people 'just had a little bit of willpower' or gave up hamburgers and chips, they would look like the latest supermodel.  It is interesting that the people they have touting all that stuff are almost emaciated - that is not a good role model either.  I know people who couldn't gain weight if their life depended on it, and those who can't lose it.  I am not suggesting that being fat is healthy, or that we should not try to maintain a healthy weight.  I only know too well how damaging overweight can be.  However, the media does not stress the fact that 'normal'  is different for different people.  Just an observation.
I don't know how I got on this rant.  It was not my intention.
We had a few very cold, snowy days.  We spent Wednesday inside - the roads and sidewalks were slippery so we decided it was just best to stay in.  It is sunny today - chilly but at least the sky is blue.
I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving with family, friends and yummy turkey!  Enjoy the weekend!
Lisa:  I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

It is interesting when the drama subsides and you look around and think, \"now what am I supposed to do\"? I think it\'s sometimes more challenging to sit in the calmness than to run the \"crazy\" race!!

OH, and I SOOO agree with the weight thing! Admittedly I\'m over weight and am following the Weight Watchers plan....BUT, don\'t show me a 17 year old, size 2, girl and tell me I\'m supposed to look like that.....all thin and trim and perky boobs in the right place and no wrinkles!! HA! At almost 50, I\'ve been around the block a time or two and let me tell ya, I\'ve earned ever damn wrinkle I have and the extra pounds and saggy breasts are simply part of the battle scars!

Glad you\'re having some sunshine today...we are too! As a matter of fact I need to get my butt in gear and go for a walk! See, you\'ve inspired me!

Love you!
Love to Lisa!

No, I don\'t think wrinkles are dangerous to your health or anyone\'s elses. The only sins left are being fat, poor, or/and looking old. Every other vice is forgiven. Love to you dear friend, Abby

At 63 (almost 63) I agree completely. Hope you felt Lisa\'s presence with you as you took your walk. Another day in the life. Hope it was a good one. Your friend, BarbaraWawa

Marlene, so much pressure on women to conform to a certain look. The goal should be health focused and I agree with you. I feel like Dr. Oz has \"sold out\".
I wish we could turn back time but would that mean we could have saved our kids? I don\'t know...I know we would have if we could have. I wish your lovely daughter was still here with you in the physical sense. Much love to you both, Linda

Couldn\'t agree with you more, on the weight issue!! I have fought being fat my entire life and it seems to have won the battle....yet again.
Guess I will get back on weight watchers again, after the first of the year. It is a never ending battle.
I have been alone for the last few days and don\'t seem to know what to do with myself...

Gentle care dear friend. Being healthy is what it\'s about and I think that looks different for each of us. Finding our way is vital and that is what you are doing. Enjoying what makes us feel best whatever that my be is what matters. I have a monthly massage and it\'s my Zen time and my body just seems to know when it\'s time once again.

Loving care to Lisa and to you.

Glad you had a calm Thanksgiving. I had a funny experience with Botox. Will have to tell you about it sometime but I will never have that again!
Apparently healthy in more important than meeting the standards set by some advertisers. Wish i could just sail through these holidays but so miss Chris just as you miss Lisa. Thinking of you and our angels. XOXO Debbie

If wrinkles indicated poor health then I am doomed. I love that you rant. This is the forum to let it out whether it be crying or ranting. Hope this week has some excitement but maybe you\'re like me and like boring. Much love. Robin

Hi Marlene, I completely agree with what you wrote about too much emphasis on super skinny being so desirable in the media... I came across an old ad that showed a skinny woman and a curvy woman...and the ad was favoring a product to put weight on!!! (It\'s on my website under Daily Upper link a few days back). That ad probably dates from around the \'30\'s...How times do change! \"Twiggy\" came on the scene and the world never looked back! Love, Donna
