Pennies From Heaven

So a friend sent me a thing today about pennies from heaven... It says basically that when you find a penny its been thrown down from heaven by an angel who's thinking of you...  and it reminded me...
I want to share a story about pennies...  Shortly after Cara died I was speaking often through emails and on the phone with a member of DS... Travismom.  She talked about the signifigance of finding pennies... Like most moms you know I was looking all over for signs...  I was especially hoping to find pennies... but I wasn't finding any... Any other time you find them every where.... So one evening I had fixed supper.  Richard finished eating and as a kind of joke he decided to leave me a tip...  based on an old waitress joke I had told him... *I'll tell you the joke in a minute....   anyway he carefully dug out three pennies and laid them beside his plate...  I was so elated to get those three pennies... I had my "found" penny...  Better yet... I had three "found" pennies...
Now to the joke...
So this guy goes into a restraunt... he's a real pain... nothing is done to his satisfaction... we all know the type... the waitress may have been gritting her teeth but she did it quietly and kept a smile pasted on her face...
At the end of the meal the guy being a smart ass lays three pennies beside the plate for a tip... The waitress sees this and she smiles and says to the gentleman... (HMPH!)
Okay so he's not a gentleman... but anyhoo... she says... Sir you've so kindly let me serve you today... and had to put up with all the things that are so awfully wrong with our establishment, our food, our service, and yet you've kindly left me a tip...
To reward you for your generosity I'd like to share with you that I have powers... I can tell you things about yourself even though I have never met you and I don't know you...
She said I will tell you three things...
You are very smart... naturally he agreed with that... people like this guy tend to think highly of themselves...
You aren't married... WOW! he said... how did you know that... (she had noticed he wore no wedding band... not a gurantee that he's not married but a pretty good indicator)
and...
Your mother wasn't either....
Have a nice day.....
*Smile*

I love pennies from heaven. I remember finding my first penny on the ground right by the drivers car door as we were leaving my sons viewing. It definitely was sent from above right when we needed a \"sign\". Thanks for the smile about the waitress. Love to you. Robin

Thanks for reminding me of the pennies. I love your story. I also love the little joke. Gave me a smile.
One of the Mom\'s here collects found pennies and has set up a fund for FMO with the ones she has found, and found pennies that other Mom\'s have sent her. A terrific idea.

At Corrie\'s memorial celebration a week after we lost her, one of my sisters took me around the house, literally took me by the hand and gently guided me, showing me all the pennies that were here and there on the floors all over the house, saying these are all from Corrie. Even when she was still walking this earth, Corrie had pennies and change spilling out everywhere ~ I guess she needed to remind me that she hadn\'t gone very far...

Love the joke and thanks for the journal entry.

My eldest son says that when he finds a penny; it\'s his brother telling him to be grateful he isn\'t poor. I get Jon\'s joke to his brother, but I don\'t get your joke! Seriously I don\'t -- ugh....

Folks don\'t say much today, but used to be if your mom wasn\'t married to your dad... then you were called bad nams... Truly its just supposed to be funny... not a social commentary.

I love the pennies Matthew sends me from heaven and keep everyone of them. While I think the FMO fund is a great idea, I need to hold on to the ones Matthew sends me. Hugs and prayers.. Lynette
