Pearl O' Wisdom

Okay, this is from Dr. Wayne Dyer, I took out one of his audio books from the library (nerd), and I, gasp, actually listened to it, and, holy crap, actually LEARNED some stuff! This is awesome: "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." I have to say it again, because it bears repeating and also, it. is. so. awesome.: "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at CHANGE." (I added a little emphasis there.) Do you know how to do this, change the way you look at things? I do to. We all do, deep down inside, we just like to pretend we don't, because it's easier to whine and cry about how things will never change... Here's the corollary: "Treat your relationships as if you already HAVE the relationship you want with that person." If you're struggling with someone, instead of always coming at them from an antagonism stand-point, come at them as if you already have the relationship you want with them, as if you both love and care and respect each other. In other words, IGNORE all the shit that has passed between the two of you, ACT like things are cool, ACT out your love for that person. If you change the way you look at that person, that person you're looking at WILL CHANGE. (I realize there are unreachable people in this world. This advice is for the more MARGINAL people, not the hard-core NUTCASES) This is genuinely working for me, with my daughter. I thought I lost my daughter. I thought the world lost my daughter. But she's in there. Either I'm drawing her out, or she's pulling herself out, or it's a combination of a lot of things, plus therapy, but I can SEE her again, it's really her, not that hard shell she built around herself... Dr. Wayne Dyer. Huh! Who knew?
