Peace in our time

The last couple of weeks have been a bit unremarkable. After the dismal month of July, anything would be welcome. I finished step 5 last sunday. I feel so good it is hard to put into words. So many of my past obessions have vaporized into the ethers!!! Texted my ex wife on sunday evening to ask if I could talk to the kids. They called me Monday afternoon. It was so good to hear from my kids again. It had been over a month since I have been allowed by my ex to speak to them. They were on speaker phone. My soon to be two little girl said "Hi daddy." It has been May since I have seen or heard her. I told her that I love you and she said that "I love me." That is so darn cute. My son talked my ear off for about 10 minutes. He had alot of stuff to tell me. He does that anytime we get to chat. I talk to my oldest. She just turned 12. She is starting 7th grade. She sounds like a little teenager. I can remember changing her diapers. Where has the time gone. The call was over to quickly but that seems the way it always goes. My son sneaked in a call Tuesday when the rest of them were outside. He misses me terribley. Hopefully we can be together again some day. A year ago I could not imagine a day or a week without mykids. I am amazed that I can now survive months without them. I know this is all God's plan for me, but I miss them badly. I have realized that I dont need a woman to make me happy, or even my kids. I have found a serenity that is so new to me. Nobody is needed, but somebody is wanted. That is the big difference. I can want, but dont need. School starts up soon so that will dominate my life as it has the last 15 years. School is not starting a moment to soon. Things have been like a morgue around the dealership. Thank God I did not get fired with the 7 other people. I was so afraid of losing my part time status which is as rare as a virgin after prom here in the car industry. I have no idea what life has in store for me next but I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me so well. 6 months sober and I am going strong. I am no longer in a tunnel but riding high on the plain!!!! Just hope I can stay in the saddle.

That is great Joe. I am so happy for you that you have some peace in your life now. i can imagine how hard it has been for you. But you are right - God has a plan for us and we can only wait until He says it is time to do something different in our lives. I have been waiting for that - it seems like you have almost found it. I wish u the best that life has to offer. Take care of yourself.

You sounded bad a few weeks ago. I was worried. I need to find myself back in church. I just haven\'t found the right one yet. I pray that God will send me where he wants me. When I backslid is when I started drinking. Never before had I had a problem until this last time. I used alcohol to deal with my bipolar that was only recently diagnosed. I feel very sad everyday that I drink but why cant I stop. What is it going to take. Only God and I know that. Joe keep me in your prayers. I really want to get my life where it needs to be. Keep praying. You know God can do anything in his time you will be reunited with your children. I hurt for you. There are so many dead beat dads in this world. Your children know that you love them and that will bring them back to you. All children need their father. Keep your head up. Always remember that God will not put more on us than we can handle.

Thanks for being there for me,
Melissa
