hey there swamps, Cant say what the op is like, but I am sure yur son wont mind you missing his birthday if it means his dad can be healthier. xxx Your a good friend buddy.

Its always hard to accept a shock like having your op bought forward - it is hard enough trying to psych yourself up for an op but when it is suddenly there the shock is hard.

Thinkin of ya buddy.

The good thing is there will be less time for you to be nervous. Another good thing is you will be well that much sooner. Plus, if your son is anything like my kids, he\'ll welcome an excuse to celebrate his birthday a little extra, maybe a party before dad goes in and or one after dad comes out type of celebration is in order??? For the operation itself, mine was early in the morning and I don\'t remember too much from the first day - didn\'t eat much, didn\'t do too much, but was up and walking a bit in the evening. The next day, I was up a lot. Everyone was amazed that I didn\'t look someone who just had a major operation because the only outward sign was a mustache dressing (a piece of gauze taped underneath my nose like a mustache). For a while there were 2 little pink patches from the tape being pulled off all the time when that dressing was changed and there were some IVs, you can\'t get away from them, they like to stick you with them in hospitals and you have to have them keep you company even when you go to the bathroom and they like to make you take walks and take the IV with you.:-) They had some pain meds available and there was a lot of congestion - the sinus area was packed. One of the most difficult parts was the restrictions on simple things you usually could do like sniff or use a straw or blow your nose that suddenly are off limits. Oh yeah, no bending or lifting either for a while. One thing, I wish I had known in advance, is the CPAP machine for sleep apnea was a no-no now. I could have left the hospital the day following the surgery. It\'s really pretty amazing. I could have gone back to work within 2 weeks. They probably wouldn\'t let YOU do that with type of work that you do. I think you\'ll be happy and be surprised at how much better you\'ll feel. We\'ll be looking forward to hearing about how things go. Take care !

i know i havent had the surgery swampy im saying this bit for your son really. he will be grateful when he is older that his daddy was around all be it a hospital but your alive and somewhat well :) after surgery you will be feeling a bit groggy yes that is natural , but you have to look to the future abirthday where daddy can run and play and not get tired etc....that will be such a perfect pressie for your son dont you think? :) sorry if ive made you cry saying this but i know that it can bring you down and you think of right now and the worry, that worry will be gone next week and you will be looking back thinking what was i worried for??? your wife and children love you to bits and want the best for you so let them take care of you for now ducky as you are the man of the house i know that you must have been looking after your family since day one. big *HUGS* xxx

I will be thinking of you on Wed. I hope yours goes as well as P.Rose\'s did. But some strange things can happen too. I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days, and I was not allowed to walk around the hospital, and I had no tape on my face.I started to feel better right away, so know you will too.No heavy lifting or bending over for a while. I was only allowed to go up stairs once a day. Don\'t be scared if you wake up with a breathing tube in, I did and I was scared because I was told that would all be gone when I woke up,so you just never know..I was so scared that I was nervous and could not talk without crying...Thinking of you DEBBIE1253
