Part of Moving On
About a month ago my niece came down from New Jersey. She and I grew up like Sisters since we are so close in age. Before the visit we really hadn't spent any time together in over 40 years. Her visit was as if God had sent an angel. She spoiled me for 3 whole weeks, having dinner ready when I came home from work, cleaning and organizing. She was also very instrumental in helping me get organized and getting a start in the right direction for personalizing my home for me. It didn't mean having to discard all of my dear husband's belongings, however, but to to place some of them strategically around my home as a reminder that he is ever present there, in every room I go into. What an amazing difference.

So glad to hear you connected with your niece and got some wonderful support and friendship from her. Distributing your husband\'s things around in every room reminded me of my move to a smaller apartment in November. I also made it a point to bring certain pieces of furniture and decorations that bring me a sense of his presence; I thought that was especially important since I was moving into a new space where he had never lived. It is those simple things that help us move forward. Good for you! laurabp
Hi laurabp, yes your are right, it is the simple things that help us move forward. It will get easier but we will never stop missing them.
What a great visit that must have been for both of you! How nice to be spoiled too! My granddaughter lives with me (she is 24) & she has also been a blessing. I would hate to see how my house looked if she wasn\'t here. After 7 mos., I don\'t have the strength to do all the things I should do. She cooks a lot & yesterday started on her cleaning rampage. She started with my master bath & cleaned out & organized all my rawers. When I am working (I am home right now due to surgery) & come home, I have little energy to do anything. I hope each day gets better for you. We will always miss & love our spouses - the challenge is just getting through each day without them physically being here. CHERI
