Parent Advocacy

Well - today is Tuesday and I still haven't "come down" from my uplifting, inspiring, Washington trip.  It was simply amazing.  To be in a room with over 100 people just like me was like a dream come true.  Does it sound egotistical, perhaps?  LOL  What I mean is - to be around people who understand and are as enthusiastic as I am to make changes and interested in helping other parents who are struggling with their loved ones with their addiction problems, is the dream that became a reality. This unique opportunity (first of its kind) was supported by a grant.  Unfortunately, not every state was represented because not every state had the grant (I never found out why), which was a shame.  But for the people who were there - a cross section of the USA - was the best learning experience for me.  Without going into detail right now - the group came up with a consensus as to what needs to be done to change the systems - at the local, state, and federal levels.  We also exchanged ideas among each other - which is great because now I have more connections.    T is doing very, very well.  The Wellbutrin doesn't seem to have disrupted anything.  The only side effect were headaches but they have now disappeared.  T still wants to try Viavance.  I contacted my middle son's former psych dr. for a second opinion, then canceled it because T seemed to be doing well.  Then T learns I canceled it and now wants me to re-schedule one.  Guess I should have asked him.  Oh well.   Oldest son - wow.  I talked to him yesterday and he's still struggling.  He's making an appointment with a psych doctor, too.  He lives at college (senior year) and as a happy-go-lucky, spiritual, honor student that has always been solid - is now depressed.
