Pack Your Bags: Traveling to Cope with Depression
Traveling has brought joy to people’s lives and today; it is viewed as an alternative way to treat depression. If you are suffering from depression, maybe you should pack your bags and travel somewhere.
How traveling helps depression
Traveling encourages you to be open and welcome new experiences. Traveling also allows you to relax, giving you the much-needed clarity and focus to help clear your mind and maybe even help you discover the root cause of your depression. Depression lets you have low self-esteem, but when you travel, you get to experience something new, things that you may never thought you could do and when this happens, you get to see your potential. It is also said that seeing the world and the beauty of Mother Nature is itself a natural anti-depressant. When you travel and see something new and beautiful, you get overwhelmed with a sense of awe and happiness, and this puts you in a good mood.

How to pack your bags
• Pick clothes that can be used in multiple ways. For example, a pair of jeans can be used for a walk in town, hiking, and commuting. A skirt can be used as a beach cover up and can be used if you need to go to a formal dinner or to church and temples. A scarf is also a good item to bring since it can dress up an outfit, be used as a head covering, and even double as a pillowcase.
• Stick with a color palette. This is one way to limit your choices when it comes to your wardrobe. Choosing darker colors is advised if you are not going to the tropics since it shows less dirt.
• Cut it in half. Another way to limit what you should bring is to gather everything you want to bring in your trip then cut that pile in half.
• Have a smaller bag for your essentials. A small sling woven bag to keep your wallet, paperwork, passport, and medicine will look great in your outfit as a tourist and it is easy to bring them with you anywhere. That way, in case you lose your luggage, you still have your essentials with you.
• Roll your clothes. This technique does not only give you more room in your bag, but it also keeps your clothes from creasing.
• Bring locks. Having locks on your luggage will discourage thieves from messing with you. If you can, bring a bike log along so you can attach your backpack to the post of your bed too for extra measure.
• Arrange your things properly. Pack the heaviest items as close to your back as possible and in the middle of your backpack. This will put less strain on your back when you carry your luggage.
