Out of One Financial Bondage, Into Another

The condo association in the building where I live is raising all our quarterly maintenance fees an additional $100 (I'm currently paying $524 per quarter on top of a mortgage and many, many other bills) and now they're trying to pass an ordinance that will enable them to tack on an ADDITIONAL $400 per quarter on top of that!  WTF?????  I just paid off $13k in credit card debt, am trying to save, to finally get ahead, and now you people and the building are going to come along and eat it up?  Apparently, they're trying to build up reserves to keep on top of repairs and maintenance, and those of us actually occupying units in here who actually pay our quarterly dues have to pay for those units that are empty and those people who haven't paid their dues.  I'm voting NO, NO and fuck to the NO!!!!!  Do I have any legal recourse here?

I would assume that you do. Something doesn\'t sound right at all and I suspect that they are hoping no-one will fight it. I would definitely talk to a few lawyers and find out what the laws are for maintenance fees with condo associations. Something is just not right. That is just an outrageous amount, beyond outrageous really. Hugs GB

Thankfully, the condo owners majority-voted \"NO!\" to the $400 increase. We\'re \"merely\" being charged a $100 per quarter increase, still high, but doable.
