Out of heartbreak and into the wilderness
So it's been almost 2 weeks since my last dating relationship ended. I still have some after affects and residual feelings, but I'm constantly giving them over to God. 2 months ago things started changing in my life. My Mom got engaged, my best friend was graduating college and moving back to town, and the dating relationship with a daughter of God started. At the time, my best friend was going to move in to my Mom's apartment next to me when she moved out in December. And with the start of the relationship, it felt like a new chapter in my life.
But, things didn't go the way I thought they would. My best friend didn't find a job in the area and ended up getting hired in Texas. It's good for him and I'm glad he got something, but now he's very far away. My Mom's wedding moved up 2 months. I'm happy for my Mom to have found someone she loves, don't get me wrong. And the daughter of God chose to end our dating relationship. Now, I'm in a place where everything I thought would workout a specific way didn't. Now, I'm left wondering what is to become of me? Every day I find myself constantly holding down emotion after emotion and bringing them to God. I am always reminding myself of God's goodness and that His word always stands.
I've started doing studies on men of God who went through "wilderness" experiences when they were called by God to do great things. I've started studying the "wilderness experience" as well. All this has me constantly going before God for everything. I realize all that I have and do is pointless without Him with me. This has been a time to explore the use and benefits of pain in my life. I've studied martial arts, and I'd much rather take a physical beating than an emotional one any day. However, this is where I am, and I know God has me covered.
The main thing I struggle with that is keeping me held down is the fact that even though I did this relationship right, I still wasn't the girl's choice. It's times like this where I question who would chose me? I mean, if I did everything right and honored God and her, then WHY NOT? It's a big question for me. But, like a coworker of mine told me, it's times like this where you rely fully on faith. I can't see what God is doing. I don't know the exact reason he allowed this to happen. What I do know is that the God I serve is good. And he is able to be exceedingly above and beyond all I can think and ask. He is able to restore the years the locusts have taken. He has made a promise in my life, and that promise is dependent on Him and me believing He is able. And I believe He is.
So, I'll walk through the pain knowing that God is with me. I will see the beauty of a new day. When all this is said and done I will be a better man.

When God closes the door, quit banging on it. He has bigger and better things for you behind another door.
It\'s the wilderness experience that allows you to learn to trust Him.
