Our progress after a few bumps in the road

Phew it's been a long 2 weeks!  And getting on here to update or doing anything personal is almost close to impossible, but we're getting there.
So after my last update, we found out that Ms. Ava had lost way too much weight in the hospital.  Babies are supposed to lose weight in the first week after they're born, up to 10%, no more.  She lost 11.2% the first 2 days! She went from weighing 7.6 to weighing 6.8.  Scary.  So needless to say, the proceeding few days were absolute hell.  The pressure was on me to get her to gain some weight and I was having a terrible time getting her to latch on which that in itself was so upsetting.  So on top of no sleep, terrible physical hormonal side effects (I was getting constant cold chills to the point where I'd shake uncontrollably and at night I was sweating through my clothes and sheets), and her not latching on, the 4 days in the hospital were some of the hardest I've ever had to go through in my life.  I was working with the lactaction nurses in the hospital and had her on a very agressive feeding schedule.  Luckily my milk came in on day 2 and I started the endless task of pumping.  Because if she wouldn't take my nipple, she had to take something so we started feeding her bottles of my expressed milk.  I tried everytime to get her to latch on.  So every 2 hours, I was breastfeeding, then giving a bottle, then pumping.  By the time I was done with that, the 2 hours was almost done and I had to start it all over again.  Plus, I had a c-section so the constant getting up and out of bed was very tedious.
Fast forward 2 weeks.  Things are looking great!  She has now gained almost a pound since we left the hospital and now weighs 7 lbs 7 oz.  Because she was born breach, she was inside of me in a straddle position so her legs were spread eagle the whole time.  She came out like that.  They had to give her a hip u/s to be sure all was okay - it was except her hips are little loose.  They are doing another u/s at her 1 mo. appt.  There's still a small chance she may have to wear leg braces but it would only be temporary.
Mom has recovered remarkably well from the c-section.  It was definitely easier than I had expected.  I have almost no more pain now.  The pain I did have was so overshadowed by the little person I had just given birth to that I barely noticed.  Nothing a little iboprofin didn't take care of.  The scar is so low and already shrinking that I really think in a few weeks, I won't even notice it.  And it's only been 2 weeks and I've shed 25 of the 35 pounds I gained!  Remarkable!
Now the great news.  Ava is the love of our lives!  The lack of sleep, the stress of breastfeeding, the worry...all worth every minute of it when I look into her eyes.  She's just absolutely the most beautiful creature I have every seen.  I just can't believe after all this time, all the heartache of trying to get pregnant, that our little miracle is finally with us. EVERYONE said this little baby will change our lives forever, but you never know just how much until it happens to you.  We feel so blessed and beyond lucky!  And for all of you that kept checking in when Ava was due, thank you so much for your well wishes and for thinking of us.   This has truly been a remarkable journey!

wow it sounds like my first few days of hell. Lack of sleep, inability to latch on etc. Everything is going much better for us now, I hope it is for you too. Ditto also the feeling of being so blessed and that I have never been more in love with a person! Magical!!! Enjoy.
