Our Poor Kitty
Well, our kitty, Zotz, has been having this ongoing problem with his urinary track. Thought it was an infection...we gave out antibiotics, lots more fresh water, etc. Well, Thurs, right after I got home fr. work, my mom pointed out that he was having trouble walking & trying to continually "squat." Off to vet first-aid in the next town, we went. Well, turns out that he was "swimming" in gritty urinary crystals & had been for some time! In fact, the vet on call simply picked him up & confirmed that he had a serious blockage. Granted, I would've missed it, but I'm not a vet! Why didn't our vet staff do the same? Well, he's been a very sick kitty...plus, it's weird: the em. vet place closes @ 8:00 A.M., so you have to pick up any pets left there and take them to their regular vets "to be babysat" during the day, if they need further medical treatments, until THAT facility closes...then you drive to the next town & drop them off @ the em. vets, so someone can treat them, during the night--with the exception of weekends! There's someone on call fr. Friday @ 5:00 to Monday @ 8:00 A.M. on weekends, but "they don't do surgeries, unless it's an emergency." Huh? And this isn't? And, now, it looks as if our poor kitty will have to be converted to a girl kitty, because his urinary tract is just too long. The surgery is supposed to be today at our reg. vets. We were reluctant to take him back THERE, but we were reassured that there were 2 experts who's specialities were surgeries of this kind. We are planning on taking Zotz home, tonight, iv bags & all & just watching him, fr. there. I can't see that dragging him around in the carrier + driving back and forth is helping his state, at all! Even though he's been on meds/pain killers, God knows what he's thinking of all of us, continually carting him everywhere, but home. I was truly and surely depressed by all of this, but could only worry...I can tell you that the urge to just stay home and help out w/all of the transporting, alone, was pretty damned strong @ 4:30 A.M., today, when I got up for work! But, off to work I went...thank God the day's half over. I feel for my folks...my Dad's not been happy about all of the effort he's had to put in, I can tell--and I can't really blame him--but he hasn't sprung into an argument, yet, about anything, so good on him! My Mom's been a brick--a very determined brick--even though she feels like crap. Well, that's Mom...think seeing our kitty this ill is something she can relate to, through her own illnesses. I need to transfer some funds into Dad's account, after work...he won't like that, esp. w/my job still on "probation," but he's not liking paying things out, now, as it has gone well over $2,000.00 & I promised I'd try and take care of all of this...and, although all of that hasn't happened, I can at least do this, for now. I just hope that our kitty makes it through...I know he's very weak, but he's my bunny boy and very special to me... Would you all please pray for Zotz? Many thanks!
