our first fight(?)

Last night me and A had our first fight.

I had done something she didn't like and (like me) she annouced her displeasure and took some time to think on it. I'm not going to say it was a minor/major issue as that's not the point here. it was how we both handled it. we both took a few moments to collect our thoughts on what was the issue and then rationally talked in open tones. the issue was resolved without a single raised voice. the best part is we both got to include our opinions and keep our dignity without the feeling of 'surrendering' to the others ideals. this is a wondeful feeling. relationships are about communication, not competition.

In one way we have turned personalities on each other. Now she's the chatterbox and i'm the quiet one. it's nice, it's like the tide ebbing and flowing, letting us each be who we want to be each day. we are flowing, moving water. Like Lao-Tzu put it, 'a body of water that is still becomes stagnant and polluted. A body of water in motion remains clear and pure.' our relationship is constantly moving in a casual motion that is not exahsting to either of us. it's nice, let the sun shine.

Thank you all for your support when the water was rough and the storm great. you were safe harbors when i needed shelter, anchors when i needed grounding. Merry Christmas to all my friends, your present has been your friendship. I hope my present can be by being a habor or anchor on dark, stormy nights.

God bless

I kinda envy people in relationships. I never was in a long term relationship. So I don't know whats its like to let someone in my personal space. I don't know what its like to be with someone 24/7. To sleep with them.

Now that I am older, I am more inhibited. I am nervous about letting anyone in my personal space. I would like partner, but am a bit frightened. It is a lot of work. I know that. Give and take.

That's really beautiful <3 how a couple argue is very telling, and so u both passed that hurdle. Maintaining civility , and putting ego's aside for the greater good show's u are both on the same page/ shared values. I absolutely Love that u quoted Lao Tzu! U have quite a keen mind, both religious and spiritual ..u walk your talk, much respect to u. Happy holidays, I'm glad for the gift of your friendship.

You are very blessed. If only I had that in my long marriage, it would have made such a big difference - so big that I would still be married if he had been willing to do what you both are doing! Shared values also would have helped. I also love that you quoted Lao Tzu. Wishing you both all the best on your journey together!
