OUCH! The BASEMENT.
When the X was gone, I changed things.... first up was making guest rooms so family and friends could come visit.... I always wanted them, but the X always had something negative to say about either the family or friends or the lack of privacy in the house.
So my first move in MOVING ON was the rearranging.... first room was a craft room so I took everything down to the basement's main room. When I get the basement finished, it's gonna be an art studio (but right now, I run in the negative for finances every month so it's on hold)....
2nd move was to put my office (computers, business paperwork for my craft sales, etc) in the side room down there as well....
And over time, I'd take more and more stuff down.... stuff I need to go through, stuff I need to organize. And right now, it's all clutter. Whenever I start, all I do is shift things around, lol.
So today, I cleaned.... not in the mood for the parade and ice cream social (lots of families and hot...) not in the mood for screaming children and it's too hot to go socialize at the dog park. I started upstairs, vacuuming, mopping, lots of laundry and worked my way back toward the basement stairs. And darn it, I have this NASTY habit of leaving tools lay around and then can't find them... which is now driving me CRAZY because I have things I need to repair in order to get more organized and I can't find those darn Allen Keys which means I can't get it repaired and can't get it organized, lol..... GRRRRR.
And I went into a closet to make room for boxes that I keep for Christmas presents... and ran into MEMORIES.
The wool shawl I wore when I was pregnant. Clothes that I wore when we were first married. A rain jacket that I only wore as I'd sit in his boat while he fished - we'd watch the moon rise over the lake.... yeah, that one brought out the worst feelings.
I don't throw things away - I'm too much of a pack rat - and I KNOW that I'll need that jacket again in the future (I plan to camp this Fall and it snows in the canyon and that jacket is lined). So I'm gonna feel that pain/ache for a while until I make new memories to replace the old ones.... BLAH.
Ok, I give up.... I'll start the weekend cleaning out my tool box and try to find those Allen Keys, and the dogs are DEMANDING the dog park NOW, so I've gotta go.... LATER!

Seems you and I think along the same lines. Always wanted to have family and friends come and visit, but only his family ever came and they were always a pain in my butt! No matter how I much I cooked and cleaned, I never got to go anywhere with everyone else. They would all pile in the car and as I was locking the front door I would hear the car start as I came running up someone would lean their head out and say sorry the car is full you can go next time. Only there never was a next time. Only the kids and X ever got in the car with his family, even if it was MY car??? Only rode in his families car to and from the Airport in Mobile &Pensacola, made 3 trips there never saw a thing! Never even saw the Mobile bridge until the night they took me by ambulance to put me in a nut house! Then the driver and attendant were so kind they purposely pointed out sites that I could at least see the lights and they made a special trip across the bridge just for me because it was my time in Mobile and I never ever saw the city or the bay or bridge in all those trips. Oh my X and my babies made plenty of trips, just not me, there was never any room and X had a fit at the mention of a rental car! But I digress, I too seem to forget my tools and believe or not I have a junk room in my trailer, actually it is a second bedroom that I purposely bought this trailer so my kids would have a place to stay when they came to see me. My daughter stayed one night the first week I had it, that was 2 years ago. No one except a family I befriended here in the park has ever been willing to come and stay with me no matter how much I beg or plead! Oh well as they say their loss my junk room! I hope your having a Happy 4th of July! Wish I could go to the dog park with you! Have fun!(((Hugs)
WOW, mac, that\'s awful. I hope you are finding those sites for YOURSELF now! Funny you brought that up - my inlaws were the opposite, lol, I was always the first in the car and it drove them crazy, lol. The more you heal, the more friends you\'ll bring into your circle and the more you\'ll have use for that guest room! My 50th\'s birthday (2013) - I\'m having a SLUMBER PARTY! An \"Over The Hill\" one because I want lots of laughter, lol. {{HUGS}}
