Others' Comments
Something I try to remember when someone comments on my appearance (good or {what I could receive to be} bad), is the book the Four Agreements. In this book it reminds me "never take anything personally" (compliments nor criticism). What ever comment someone has, is a reflection of what is going on in their world/reality, and really has nothing to do with you. I often think of my grandfather as an example; he would always comment on my body, "you look good," "you look too skinny," "your pants are very tight," etc. etc. It used to bother me and make me so uncomfortable, until one day, after reading the Four Agreements, I began to notice how he always had something to say about his own appearance..."I've always been in good shape" he would say, or "I always watch what I eat," "I look good for my age." In fact, he was hung up on himself. "Nothing other people do (or say) is because of you. It is because of themselves."
