Others
Others
Others don’t seem to understand
How it is to have half of yourself ripped away
It is like sand falling through your fingers with nothing
to stop the rapid fall
the silence of your empty chair staring at me
doing all the driving
no one to laugh with
your smell on the pillow
no one to care about me
no one to take care of me
no one waiting for me
not being complete anymore
no “Jim and Marsha” or “Marsha and Jim”
no one to count on
no kiss goodnight
but I am expected to “be strong” and move on
accept loss
get to a better place
so that others are not uncomfortable
and I again become an “other”
