OT: Kaiser Has Left The Building

Kaiser, my beloved miniature pinscher passed away peacefully last night. He was 15.
Kaiser was a great dog, his one mission in life was to provide companionship for me. Wherever I was in the house, he wanted to be nearby. Just in case I needed anything.
Kaiser knew one trick, how to play dead dog. I painstakingly taught him, providing many treats as an incentive. One day, he finally got it! His little brain said “If I play dead dog, I get a treat!” From then on, every time we sat down to dinner, there was Kaiser nearby, playing dead dog. Hey would lay there for 30 minutes, if needed. Our dinner guest were always amused by his trick, and once I explained what he was doing, he usually got a morsel from a sympathetic person, further reinforcing his antics.
His last few years were hard on him. He went completely deaf, and almost blind. Still, he would come into my office to sleep whenever I was working. This is his favorite time of year, he loved eating the fallen peaches in the back yard. That is where I will bury him today. Now he really is a dead dog, but he loved, he was loved in return, and he will be missed.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you take some consolation in the fact that Kaiser had a great life with an owner that loved him.

This brought tears to my eyes...I am so very sorry. When my beloved cat died a while back I was so broken I didn\'t want to continue living.

RIP Kaiser

Take care...
