Organization

When I meet a student for the first time, the most common thing that we tackle is getting organized and ready for success. Many students were not taught to keep folders for each class organized and often stuff assignments and projects into a book. This is the number one reason why homework gets lost. With a few simple steps, it will be hard to misplace papers and lose track of assignments.

#1 HAVE AN AGENDA OR PLANNER

most schools furnish agendas to the students that are horribly designed and seldom used. Instead, have the student pick out one that he/she likes because it will actually get used! The main thing that I look for is to have a week-at-a-glance to help plan the week and plan-out assignments. This is an essential tool for success later in life as well.

#2 HAVE A SEPARATE NOTEBOOK FOR EACH SUBJECT

a 3-ring binder with divider sections for tests/quizzes, class notes, homework and handouts are the main focus here

have all of the essentials in a small bag for convenience. These are items like pens/pencils/erasers, etc.

These are the basics, now they have to be implemented for lasting success!
