Open/closed oors
From the movie "Facing the Giants":
"We serve a God that opens doors that no one can shut, and he shuts doors that no one can open. He says: ‘Behold, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know you have a little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. The Lord is not through with you yet. You still have an open door here, and until the Lord moves you, you’re to bloom right where you’re planted. I just felt led to come and tell you that today."
I continue to struggle to find what dooes God has open for me. I know they must be there, I just can't see them. I am certainly running out of strength for the searching for the open doors is truely exhausting. Yet, I have the faith that someday my search will be rewarded.
Another quote from the movie:
"I heard a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain. And both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain? Which one are you? God will send the rain when he’s ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it."
Boy, I like to think I've prepared my field in anxious expectation of the Lord's rain...but most of the time I think I'm in the wrong field because nothing is growing due to lack of rain. I've tried preparing my field, but how do I know it is the right one? My patience is certainly being tested...which again is very exhausting...

I struggle with that too, John. There\'s also this question in my mind...\"How do I know God WANTS to send the rain? What if He has another purpose I can\'t see right now in allowing there to be NO rain? Did He PROMISE to send rain anyway? So, is it a lack of faith on my part or maybe just His will that I didn\'t get rain?\"
I hope I didn\'t just make things worse for you! lol. But I have a hard time with the \"just believe and it will happen\" mentality. I\'m not sure that is what Jesus was teaching us. Or maybe I have just missed the boat.
Praying for you, my friend, that God leads you to EXACTLY where He wants you to be, and that you will KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt, where that is.
Hugs!
I understand how you feel completely, its sort of like we try and try and keep trying but havent been able to see completely whats ahead, which way to turn, what road to take. I guess believing and having faith will always lead you in the right direction and I think its just part of the learning we need to go thru in life, follow its path whereever it may take you and when you look back you will realise how many doors were already opened, how many doors you walked thru and in time there will be many more.
I find it easier to try to deal with a day at a time and those small steps eventually will truely make a journey. You are a special person and you do help so many people around you, god is watching as you help him with his work, you will be rewarded, you will find your way, i believe that so very much. god bless xx
I understand totally how you feel. I got married once, and it did not work out, so I filed for divorce. Now I am in a second marriage and it is not a happy one either. Husband #1 abused me, Husband #2 ignores me. Sometimes I do not know which is better, or maybe I am better off like this. If I had not went out and tried to meet people I would not have gotten married either time. So, I can not say that I did not try. Sometimes we can keep meeting people, just all the wrong ones. It takes a lucky shot to finally be at the right place at the right time. It is all in timing. They say when an apple is ripe, it will fall, that you cannot force a relationship on someone if they do not want to be in one. When you find the right apple and it is ripe, then it will fall, and you can eat the fruit. But you cannot eat a rotten apple, nor can you eat an apple that is unripe.
