Are our bio-clocks finally in alignment with daylight confusion time? Even *I* woke up at the appropriate mechanical hour this morning rather than last month's bio-hour. Big Sis is still sleeping as the mechanical clocks tick their way toward a more functional wake up time. Let's hear it for synchronicity! ! !
I donae believe yesterday's new schedule could have gone any smoother, especially considering that a guardian/teacher conference needed to be squeezed into the proceedings. That little hiccup made the mad dash to swim lessons a bit tight, but everybody was working together and we made it to lessons with a few minutes to spare. All three children love their swim lessons. Yay Gammy and Gampy! ! ! We got one right! ! !
The next phase of work on the new house is set to start this afternoon. Life willing, we will be set to settle in during the Thanksgiving holidays. Big Bro gets a full week off from school. There is still no word on the lawsuit developments from the other grandparent house. Lawyering up didnae make them more approachable by any of the team members working to get the children safely through this tragedy, so all of us are on the wait-and-see plan in regards to their visitation demands. Still I hope for the potential of giving the children full and free access to both branches of their family tree, but for now we donae even have free access to their lawyer, much less them.
Wake up time. . . Yesterday's child-free hours were good medicine for both Hubs and I. Stepping small and praying big.

Glad to hear all went well yesterday and the new house is begun. Happy Dance hugs.
Alas, we kept the baby home this morning because she had a follow-up appointment for the sinus affection that cropped up over the weekend. She asked for a nap while we waited and woke up projectile vomiting. Good thing we already had a doctor's appointment, huh? The doctor says it looks like the stomach flu that has been making the rounds and we can probably plan on the older siblings and possibly ourselves to go through the same.
Sigh. . . No rest for the weary.
Poor bubby. . . She is normally a hit-the-floor-running kind of gal but today finds her lethargic enough to break a heart. Sure makes her easier to catch, though.
You are doing such a great job at parenting those children! Maybe the other party will give the legal game a rest till after the holidays-wishful thinking on your behalf Arfie. Continued support and positive energy blasting your way!!
Before the tragedy, when this was *just* a custody shift, I thought we would be using the same visitation protocols we had worked out during the 10 months the children had been in protective custody with the other grandparents. We took school vacations. My first guess as to why the custody was shifting to us was that the other grandparent household was feeling the strain of 4 disabled adults and 3 young children in a 3 bedroom, inner city duplex.
My maternal instinct says the children could use the stability of holidays here, but I am ready, willing and able to use the already established protocols. My family and life experience with housing project lawyers makes me believe they are only playing lawsuit lotto with no real interest in the children. My DIL's sister-in-law commented along the way that her in-laws had never cared about grandchildren until they came with gringo pockets to pick. I don't know how many grandchildren the other grandparents have, but it is way more than our only three grandchildren. Those are likely to be the only 3 we will ever have. The woman who made the comment had two of their grandchildren.
Leaving that mystery be until it chooses to reveal itself. . .
The great news of the week is that the work has begun to prep the site for the double-wide trailer. The concrete for the piers will be poured tomorrow. The older sibs are so excited we might have to camp in imaginary bedrooms tonight. Nah. . . Being the grown-up is a dirty job, but somebody has to do it. Temps will be near freezing tonight.
Think leaving the mystery be until it chooses to reveal itself is the soundest place to be. Love the "being the grown up" comment. Support and prayers continue.
