Oneday

Dearest,
Well I did Nothing today! Slept late, made waffles, went grocery shopping, did a load of laundry and that's it! attained none of my goals. They had egg-nog at the farm when I stopped for milk so I bought some. It's totally decadent, so good! Must be illegal, farm fresh egg-nog, and I didn't even add rum yet. I will after dinner!
It's supposed to rain tonight, it's 25 freakin degrees out there! NOT gonna be rain that's for sure. I'm writing something so there will be a lot of cleaning going on tomorrow. Your snotty sister called me today. I didn't say anything because the only thing that I want to say is F you and the horse you rode in on, But I didn't! I don't know how long I can maintain this but my new policy is to tell her nothing. I think that may be a common policy, that's why she never knows what's going on.
This is a hard time of year to be alone. There's no joy for me in this season just long dark nights. Some one said that there was joy in my posts to you. I don't see it. There's no joy in my heart, no joy in this house, no joy anywhere around me. How could there be joy in my writing?
French onion soup and shrimp for dinner. Lots to do this week, I have to try keeping the sleeping under control. It's hard cause my inner bear wants to hibernate this time of year.I was remembering how you got turned around when you were sick. Sleeping all day and up all night. You know that made me crazy, right? There must be a warm spell coming, my appetite suddenly ramped up. The inner bear knows. Forgot to buy bird seed and suet, oh well, tomorrows another day.
Till we talk again, Your Ken

Hi Ken,
It is okay that you did \'Nothing\' today. There is nothing wrong with that....ya just can\'t do that every day, right?
It is almost impossible to find joy in this grief journey, but I do try to search for it. I have found God shows me glimmers of light or some joy throughout the day, but I need to be looking for them. Perhaps a phone call from a friend, or a song that touches my heart beautifully, a text that someone\'s praying. Please know God loves you and wants to shed some joy into your dark and painful world.
I am praying for you.
Sending you a hug too!
Linda

Ken, I thought of yet another way God sends a bit of joy into our dark days.... the hugs and messages from our DS friends.
Whenever I see a hug or message waiting for me, I feel like someone actually cares about me. I hope you will see joy, my friend.

Ken, I can\'t even imagine having to go through the holidays with your loss so recent. I have had 10 months and Christmas is scary and miserable and I know it is a whole lot worse for you. There are all the well meaning platitudes about time, healing, blah, blah, blah, but I will skip that. It just sucks plain and simple...nothing else I can say.
Don\'t worry about hibernating a little. Everything will still be there waiting for you when you wake up. Take care, Angie

Ken,
I am trying to enjoy and season and be happy for the grandchildren. The truth of the matter is, with the cold gray days and long nights, the idea of climbing into bed and just sleeping through the whole thing is very appealing. If there is nothing that you absolutely have to get done......go for it and sleep. I wish I could.

Ken,
It doesn\'t sound like you did nothing. You made waffles. Yum! Homemade? Double Yum.
I woke up, picked up an RX at the drugstore, ate lunch and took a long nap under magic blanket. Made dinner and dove back under magic blanket with a book, then mindlessly watched Food Network and am now going to sleep.
Nothing? Nope. I did plenty for the Sunday before the Follyday.
(sorry, I stole your day puns)
blessings,
Linda

Ken, I think the joy shows through in your love for your wife. The way you write to her, and about her, you can tell how you felt about her. I\'m glad you had a nothing day, it\'s good for everyone to have one of those every now and then. I hope to have my own after Christmas.

I\'m with you, I got up and then went to sleep on the couch until 2:30 this afternoon...didn\'t do anything either....guess that\'s the way to handle this time of year....take it easy...keeping you in my thoughts and prayers...hugs, Sandi

You did all of that stuff and still said you did nothing. If I get one load of laundry done I think I have done something. Let alone make waffles and go to the grocery store. Paula is right when she says that your love for your wife shows in everything you write. God bless you and help you through the holidays. Your friend Diane

Yes I made waffles with flour, baking powder, eggs, milk, and veg oil. Made the onion soup with onions, some left over beef broth and asst. spices. The egg nog was pre-made, all I added was the rum. I have goals for every day. Each day I want to accomplish a specific thing. If I don\'t get that thing done then I consider the day a waste.Intend to get all side tracked with but first issues. I\'m gonna do the dishes, but first I\'ll empty the drain board, but first I\'ll take out the recycling, but first I\'ll dump the compost, but first I have to clean the garbage area, but first have to take out the garbage, but first I\'ll take a nap. Hours later I look around and think \"now what was I doing?\"
