One year ago .....We heard the words Cancer

So , Dennis and Mine's Wedding Anniversary is 9/9/98 ( even though we meet 10/25/90) lol. It was labor day weekend 2010 when I got a texted from my husband he was in route to the hospital for a possible appendicitis attact. He had been texting me all day about a pain in his side but I hadn't seen them yet. I really wasn't to upset as this seem pretty cut and dried of all ailments that are out there. We were just waiting for test results when the Doctors came out and told us they couldn't quite tell what it was but ruled out the appenicitis for the new and improved diagnosis of food poisening or colon infections. Then he looked right at us and said also we found a mass on the opposite side in your kidney which is cancerous. Holy Shit , this is like being hit by a freight train !!!
any way fast forward to now... Cancerous Kidney out , no other treatment for now just watch and see. Gail retired and loving it. Gail retired and Dennis loving it. Living each day with thoughtfulness and love to each other.
It would be nice to think we are done , but as all of know so well this can be done or a chronic disease that can take our loved one's .

Love to all
Gail

on August 27th I \"celebrated\" the second anniversary of my radical surgery - gone one left kidney named Herb, still with me right kidney named Margaret.
did a CT scan last week and so far, so good. still No Evidence of Disease.

moving back and forth on 3 and 6 month intervals for my scans and just watching but not waiting. enjoy the journey, Rich

What a year!! Most of fret and worry and plan and a bit of the fretting may involve health but few of us ever See The Blow (of any kind) coming... But your life seems to be working out. I know at one point you were concerned re finances and medical cover from stopping work but you dont seem worried now! I love that \"Gail retired and loving it. Gail retired and Dennis loving it\". That is so nice.

Happy Anniversary Gail and Dennis! I too remember the dianosis day for Steve. Cried until I was sick on my stomach, crawling up into the bed with him and holding on for dear life. Now 13 years later I still have him to hold on to. We are blessed and so are you!
Many hugs for you both!

Congratulations on all your anniversaries. You are so smart to have retired and spend as much time loving each other as possible while the good days are going on. Hopefully they will continue forever, and no further issues will cloud your days. Treasure every waking minute.
Love, gloria
