One week since my last post, time I was back
Good morning journal, the time is now 7:48am,I have been awake since 6:00am when Buttons, our German pointer, did her,"I need to go",routine,I got up and let her out to do her thing, and when she was finished she promptly climbed back into bed beside my wife and our two other canine children and fell asleep again.Me?,I headed for the kitchen in search of a much needed coffee, whilst said coffee was brewing,I remembered that it was trash day and took the trash out, then I came here.Unfortunately, after starting to type at around 6:55am,and being well on my way to completing another lengthy diatribe of drivel, I hit the wrong button, and another literary masterpiece danced off into cyber space,oh well, perhaps God was telling me to start again,so I will, and I have,so there!.I do so enjoy the early part of the day,I had described it so poetically in my previous, now sadly lost forever, communication with you,so I won't bother to do it again, save to say,the morning outside is cool, but the sky overhead promises a fine day in store.Yesterday was glorious!,the sun shone bright and hot,and the sky was the palest blue with scarcely a cloud in sight,my wife and I took advantage of the fine weather to get outside in the back garden and plant our very first seeds of the season. We have decided to grow some of our own vegetables,we planted beans, carrots, tomatoes, and we also planted some herbs, parsley sage, oregano, basil, and thyme, and if today is the same as yesterday weather wise,we will plant some peas as well.We have discussed putting our name down to rent an allotment close to our home from the local council,we figure that the fifty pounds or so that it costs a year to rent, will be offset by the savings we can make by growing our own food, and the money that we save can then be redirected towards other things like heating, lighting, and any other bills which might crop up.God will continue to provide for us,but we have to meet Him halfway, and being mostly self sufficient in the food department will go a long way in helping ourselves, and Him,get the job done much easier.I had an allotment years ago,but pressure of work meant that I couldn't devote the time needed to keep it going, now there is no work to contend with,we can make this a venture that will be both satisfying and worthwhile, not to mention profitable. There is a waiting list, but if we put our name down now,we might get something towards the end of the year, and that would give us enough time to cultivate it and get ready for the planting season next year, who knows?,in time we may even get a chicken or two as well,it's a plan at any rate,God will provide, and this is something He has been telling me very strongly to do,so we will see what happens. My wife Peyton is a wonderful gardener, and watching her yesterday was very satisfying for me,she smiled a lot,and we had a wonderful time,I love to see her smile, she doesn't do it enough so yesterday was beautiful for both of us.We were a family, our fur babies loved being outside in the sunshine and my gorgeous wife was happy, what more can a man ask?. The generosity of our friend and brother, means that, for the first time in a long time, the pressure is off,we made our bills and we have enough food in the freezer to last a few weeks, there is even a little cash left in reserve for emergencies,it will get tough again we know, but for now we have what we need, and that is enough.I did receive some sad news also though,my son called me to tell me that a close friend had passed away,he will call me when the funeral arrangements are made and both he and I will go pay our respects to a man we have known a long time.Death is inevitable we know, but when it comes,no matter how well we think we are prepared,it reminds us of our own mortality, and of how flimsy life really is.I am at an age now where a lot of my friends seem to be shuffling off this mortal coil,it does remind one that youth is in the distant past, and that the time we have left seems to be dwindling by the day,so we should use it as wisely as possible. An old friend of mine, sadly also now no longer with us,once said to me,"dying is easy because we don't have a choice, but it's how we live that will determine how we are remembered",I have never forgotten that, and I have tried to live my life that is both pleasing and favorable in the eyes of God.We all make mistakes and errors of judgement of course, but as long as we are genuine and have a pure heart,God understands our frailties and shortcomings. If we were all perfect and never messed up we wouldn't need God,and I can't imagine my life without Him being in it.I am grateful to my dear friend Pat who quoted a verse from one of my favorite parts of the Bible,
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
it is a quotation from Psalms 37:25,and is God's promise to us that,no matter what happens in our lives,He will be there.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
You can turn to any page in the Bible,ANY,and I guarantee you will find at least one promise of God's love
Job 4:7 "Consider now: Who, being innocent, has ever perished? Where were the upright ever destroyed?,
see what I mean?. I could go on,in fact I will,
Proverbs 10:3 The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
Today,we will remember His love for us,within our home and within our hearts,we will also remember to be grateful for each other, and for the wonderful friends on this site who have become family to us.Over the past week,I have been unwell, the heartburn and the indigestion that sister Reilly warned me about before I started the metformin for my diabetes did indeed make themselves known,so much so that I was violently and physically sick on numerous occasions. We were a little concerned that I vomited what looked suspiciously like blood, but thankfully,I am recovering now,and I am grateful for that.Well journal,I think that is all the news I have for now,so,until the next time may the Lord watch over us all,and peace, once again,be in our home.

Scott, I\'m so happy you\'re back! I\'ve missed you! Things have been a little wild around here lately, with my son, Chris, getting ready to graduate from truck driving school on May 9. Much more expense was involved than we originally thought, but I guess that\'s how these places sucker you in. But he has already had a job offer and will start orientation on May 13. Finances are heartbreakingly low, but I\'ve been meditating on the scripture I gave you, \"I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.\" I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it\'s just trying to make ends meet until then that is stressing me out. But we\'ll make it! God hasn\'t brought us this far to forsake us now! He is ever faithful and good!
I\'m sorry to hear of your friend passing; I\'ve had many of my friends pass lately also. Like someone once said, \"Old age isn\'t for sissies\".
It thrills my soul to hear of your closeness and dependence on God! I know he has been blessing you, but I believe that\'s just the tip of the iceberg. I believe God has great and mighty things in store for you that you know not of. Get ready for your blessings to run you down!!! Love and hugs to you and your wife.
