One thing after another
It seems like it is one step forward and 10 back. My niece's daughter is getting married on the 25th. It is a wedding we have been looking forward to for a long time. Last week we heard that the groom's mother-in-law died suddenly. She had chronic problems but there was no indication that she was in imminent danger of dying. She was looking so forward to the wedding as she loved Liz, the bride, and was happy that they were finally getting married.
Tonight my son called to say that his wife, Tiina is seeing the specialist tomorrow and very likely will need surgery. The thought of surgery is terrifying for us since Lisa died as a result of surgery. I was an RN for years but all the successful surgeries I have seen mean nothing now. On top of that, both Andrew and Tiina are in the arts and are always on the verge of financial catastrophe. Tiina is a self employed graphic artist and Andrew writes graphic novels and paints. Andrew hates asking for help but if Tiina needs surgery, he won't have a choice. They need both their salaries to make ends meet.
I was doing okay for a couple of days - only brief periods of tears but this was like a kick in the stomach. I have no tolerance for any stress or setback. If I break a cup, I dissolve in tears.
I pray that the wedding goes well and that Tiina will be well enough to go - it is a 3 hour flight to get there.
The upside is that our granddaughter and her dad will be there too so our little nuclear family will be together for a few days!
