One step forward, 10 steps back!

My one granddaughter, (7 years old), whom I only see about once a year, went back home to her mom and step-dad today, after visiting me for the past week. I've been yelling at her daily, and gave her a few hidings. Just before she left, she hugged me and told me that she will miss me. I almost started crying, because I felt so guilty.

I try my best to change my attitude and become the person I used to be, but for every step I take, I fall back at least 10 steps again! Sometimes I feel that I'm letting everybody down: my children, my grandchildren and even God!

To make things worse, the "festive season" is starting. I hate this season! I wish that I could fast-forward time so that I don't have to deal with this season at all!

7 year olds can be very trying. Testing our patience and thinking they know it all. Don\'t be so hard on yourself. I know exactly how you feel about the holiday season. This will be my first in 7 years that I am looking forward to. I know you have not let God down. He knows and sees your stress and pain. He knows what a good mother and grandmother you are. Huggs and love. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Your family and God know you are doing your best and understand the stress you are going through. What is important is that you stop putting yourself down and begin looking at all the positive things you are doing for the lives around you. I suspect you aren\'t letting anyone down. Even your 7yr old granddaughter gave you a big hug, and if you were terrible she wouldn\'t have done that. Keep doing the best you can. No one can ask for more. Hugs, Dan
