one more thing
I had a meeting with the hospital today about Dad going home. They have now found cancer is his bones. He has a minor fracture in his left thigh bone too. I'm not sure if he will ever come out of the hospital unless it is to come home to die.
One moment he seems resigned to the idea and he makes comments about one foot in the grave and such and the next he is talking about going back to work. I dont know if he really gets it or not.....for the most part he seems like he is all there cognitively and then he says something about buying a new drill for work, maybe he just cant used to the idea of not working anymore, he has been working since he was a kid.
I dont know what I should be doing.....I can handle being sick myself but i dont know how to help Dad with this.

I\'m very sorry. I\'m not sure there is any way for you to help him adjust. You just have to be there for him. Love him.
I agree with bikercj. All you can do is follow his lead. Maybe talk about some of his favorite memories, vacations and such. I am sad for you and wish you and Dad a peaceful day.
I\'m so sorry..I can imagine how hard this is for you!! I wish I had a suggestion to help you!! Just know that you and your family are in my prayers! Take care!
I am very sorry to hear of your father. Please know I think of you and your family everyday and I am praying for you.... XOXO - Teresa
I am sorry you are having to deal with this. THe only thing you can do for you father is be a good listener, help him with his affairs, and be there for him. Most importantly, spend as much time with him trying to have some enjoyment together, even if it is watching the sunset, or listening to an old song he likes.
You are both in my prayers!
Cheryl.
I agree with the others. Perhaps he is talking about work because what else do you say to your children at a time like this. If he got all touchy feely with ya\'ll he might not be able to recover his composure so he talks about the things he knows are safe.
I have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Just keep being the loving daughter that you are and spend as much time with him as you can and try to take care of yourself as well. That is the best that you can do!
I\'m sorry to hear about your dad. Please... spend as much time as you can with your dad. You don\'t want to regret it later. Be there for him. Reminisce about the good times. You don\'t know how long he has. I know it\'s hard for you to do but he needs you right now...
Thinking of you and your dad. Prayers are sent.

I\'m so very sorry to hear abt your dad. I think too just being around to spend time with him is the best possible thing you can do but please remember to try & balance in looking after yourself because you won\'t do anyone any good if you fall ill also.
My heartfelt thoughts are you my friend.
Gosh, honey not something else. I\'m so very sorry. I know there is nothing I can say or do to help ease your burden; just know that I\'m thinking of you and sending loving energy. If you ever need to rant, vent or just talk, I\'m here. Wishing you the very best and many peaceful moments in your hammock.
