One Drink
I truly have believed up until this point that i was able to control drinking alcohol. "I will just have one" I would say , and i would truly believe myself at the time. One drink is all it takes for my world around me to disappear and to abandon all other thoughts accept that of having another drink. I seem to forget the people around me and dismiss any thoughts of how i could be hurting someone else.
One drink is all it took to lose the ability to maintain my own life. I have lost the one person I care about the most in the world , and all because of one drink.
After many attempts to avoid this moment, i know am openly willing and able to say that I am an alcoholic. I can not afford the luxury of one drink because with me, it is never just one drink. I am unable to control this on my own and I know that my body can not handle the power that alcohol holds over me.
At this moment in my life I feel empty. I feel like I have lost everything. I feel so much blame and hatred towards myself because i was not strong enough to control this on my own. I am in love with a man who can no longer watch me suffer from drinking and he has removed himself from my life at a time where I feel i need him the most.
Is this what it takes? Must you lose something or someone valuable to really see the bigger problem?
I am reaching out to support groups because i know that I can not do this on my own and I do not want to hurt the people I love.i am tired of feeling remorse because that feeling reminds me that I have done something wrong and I can not live with that any more.
I want to completely delete alcohol from my life. I want to grow stronger and become more involved with helping myself and helping other people. I want my life back, I want my children to have an amazing life and I want the love of my life, even though he has left, to know that I can do this.
One drink is all it takes and from this moment on, I will not trust myself to have One drink ever again.
