On the Journey

I slept a full 9 hours last night, with minimal risings. I started to drink Sleepytime Tea and I do believe it is working for my insomnia due to pain. At present, I am not taking any medications so the tea doesn't interfere with them. I am pursuing a moderately holistic approach to my care at this point. I have so many drugs from the last surgery still bombarding my damaged CNS that I am consciously making wiser food and medicinal choices for overall wellness. Each surgery I become more weakened and tired. It really is a fight to return and continue my journey with DDD. I have experienced the usual problems with pain and depressive episodes. I have come to understand this is the normal for the condition, but I want to be stronger, better and rise above it somehow. I know my faith plays a huge role in this and I look forward to being in my Bible and doing devotions every day. Truth be told, it's the only thing now I get up for. I need to get a walk in today though. It's been a few days as the pain in my hip has worsened and I wasn't getting restorative sleep. I hope I can make the full route today. It really is so beautiful outside, sun is shining and the temperature isn't very cold. I may even go browse my favorite local book shop for a bit. I have made a commitment not to purchase any books this year but I do have two bags to trade in this time. Does that count? ha ha. It does...shoot!! I must not fail in my commitments this time. Now if I can just find someone to carry the bags...*sigh*
I found this site explaining my cervical diagnosis, I hope it will help others as well.
