On Loving and Dying
I'm having a blessed day. I say blessed now, instead of I'm good. Or I'm doing well because these conditions change. One moment I'm feeling good, the next, I'm not. Still, I'm blessed every second of my life.
Today, I was sad to read that one of our members is planning suicide. This hurts on so many levels. Marriage is a blessing from God. Marriage is something that many desire and some are denied, but all marriages end in death or divorce. So, just by the mere act of getting married, we're destined to experience sadness.
A few months ago I wondered if it was all worth it. Was loving and marrying the man of my dreams worth the agony I now suffer on a daily basis? At the time, I wasn't too sure. But now, I'd do it again because I had so many years of happiness, so many blessing for knowing him. But it doesn't work out that way for all of us. Some of us are so shattered by the loss of the person we love that they don't recover and consider suicide. Would they think it was worth loving and marrying if they'd known how it would end? It's a question that will always haunt me.
