On-Call

I am now on call for the next two weeks through the Thanksgiving holidays...  Many of my fellow disaster team members have families...  I have a family, but not one of my own...
It is time to check those chimneys, watch for sparks in electrical outlets, keep a nose out for any strange burning scents, blow out those candles, keep an eye on those electric heaters, watch the food in the oven or on burners, etc...
Just gotta say...
It's going to be a bit stressful, but if I can keep my thoughts in check, my emotions will follow (for the most part)...
This would not be a good time for a meltdown...  (In several senses of the word)

I\'m learning to let myself have meltdowns here and there, in a controlled way. bottling things up never helps. i set aside a time, to just allow feelings to flow, whatever they are.

Thank you annettearizona and Dracona... Little meltdowns are a whole lot easier to manage than the big booby traps... I have such difficult accepting emotions which are painful and allowing them to flow, but I find once I do, I feel freer... It is just hard at times to find that means for me to do so...
