on age

I think the worst thing I ever heard the opposite sex say to me was when comparing pictures of me new and old she said, "You looked alot nicer when you were younger!"
"Sigh!" making me feel old and ugly is NOT being very supportive!  So I said nothing and simply carried on in my usual over patronizing ways!  But that hurt! That really hurt and it sucked the life right out of me.
When I was younger I was always planning on this part of my life and now that I am here, what do I have?  Nothing that I planned on, lol!  Thats why I have a hard time to motivate myself to do the things I use to do such as run, go fishing, play tennis and basketball or do any of a hundred other things that use to bring me enjoyment.  No wonder I suffer from depression!
In 1996, I ran a marathon....and finished!....despite having a runny nose and a bad cold on that day! Nowadays, if I get a cold, it's an excuse so I can stay home and do nothing, bringing rest but also more depression.
What am I to do? Continue to bask in the glory of what few accomplishments I have had in life, or set realistic goals so I can go out and make new memories?
Decisions, decisions!
Please don't tell me I am old and ugly, even if you have to lie!

That is so sad but I know how you feel...you are in no way old and ugly and I am not lying about that so please don\'t ever make another person make you feel that way. I have allowed others to make me feel that way too but there is nothing you can do about it. Be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished. You have a lot of life still left in you. Its never too late to make changes and try something new!

Went to bed one day ... and woke up another way... *club* **sigh** Now, she said you looked \"nicer then\" but she didnt say Ugly... did she? I hope not!

\"What am I to do? Continue to bask in the glory of what few accomplishments I have had in life, or set realistic goals so I can go out and make new memories?\" Yes! thats the winner! ;)
I wonder sometimes if the achievements are of the same importance and as rewarding as what we used to do ( with our younger bodies, different circumstances) its just that its on a different level. Things are hard at all different points in life - now we have the challenge of getting off our asses and \"Do stuff\" with older bodies and aches and pains. And its a challenge every single day!

Maybe thats it ? Or a bunch of BS! LOL

Be yourself. Who else is better qualified?
--Frank J. Giblin, II

Almost every magazine devotes its cover to movie stars and famous personalities. We are taught that we need to look like the most attractive and glamorous people. We need to wear what they wear, eat what they eat, and fix our hair like theirs. The message we are given is: Don\'t be yourself, be like someone else.

There will always be someone who looks better than we do, has more money, scores better on tests, or has more creative skills. If we\'re always trying to mimic other people, we won\'t be looking at ourselves. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it keeps us from being ourselves.

We need to stop focusing on what others have that we don\'t have. We need to look inward at our good qualities as well as our imperfections. We need to see who we are by being ourselves. Life is not made up of people who are good and bad, happy and sad, rich and poor, beautiful and ugly. Life is made up of people being themselves.

I will start to be myself. Help me show others the real me, not an imitation.

I think you look just mighty fine. Words can hurt sometimes, though, can\'t they...
Dang I remember when I was young, I was a little hottie and at no effort. I was also very insecure and had no clue I was a hottie.
Youth is definitely wasted on the youth. I\'m sorry that person hurt your feelings. Katie

This may sound odd but I am kinda glad I felt so bad with that comment! I think I grew emotionally out of that. I no longer feel like shit but I feel a little wiser maybe? Not trying to brag but I got over it pretty quick, and I am still humble. :)

Gee I love my friends!

i always say it doesn\'t matter what people look like.it\'s whats inside that counts.i can tell when people are being fake.there are people who are very nice looking & they know it.those people i can\'t relate to.they are putting on a front.everybody has closet\'s.i do wish i had more confident in myself. your not alone bob your a great person (that\'s what counts)
