Old Ties
My friend died thirty-two years ago. She left a husband, a sixteen-year-old son and a fourteen-year old daughter. For four years I was near but then moved to another state. The daughter and I were not very close but she knew i was there for her if she needed me. After we moved she kept in touch with my daughter. They had been together for fourteen years. Then they stopped writing and I lost track of her.
Recently I asked her aunt about her and got no reply. She just ignored my question. I thought it was something she did not want to discuss and dropped it. A Christmas card from her father gave me contact again. He told her I wanted to talk to her and she e-mailed me. Now we talk a bit and it is just like I found her again. She has been going through some rough times and needed someone to talk to.
Ain't life funny? God does have a plan.
