Old Man Things
I've noticed I'm doing "Old Man Things". I forget to turn on the coffee maker when Foxy comes in from her morning business sometimes, and I pass right by it when I come in! I have to make a list if I'm shopping for more than 2 items. There are a pair of pliers and two pairs of vice-grips hiding in the house somewhere and I'm not playing hide-and-go-seek. Also, my pocket knife that I use to open letters and open Foxy's weekend treat, seems to have legs and can be anywhere. I start making a grocery list two days after I've shopped and it won't be done till night before I shop. I have 3 shortcuts for doctor appointments on my desktop that lead to reminders that I'll print a week before the appointment to put on the ice box. I still have to check 2 or 3 times an hour to remember what TV program I'm going to watch next. The latest aberration of OMT came last week when I was paying my bills. I still use checks for my utilities, insurance, rent, and newspaper. I like to see what each costs. I knew I was getting low on checks so I looked in the check box early week and saw the reorder form with something under it. My last check pad, I thought. Ran out of checks while paying the bills,,,opened the check box,,and guess what? No checks! It was the transaction register! If this gets any worse, I may be on my way to a nursing home or having someone take care of finances. Neither were on my mind when I thought about retirement.

I have a list on my kitchen wall that has \'Wallet, cell, checkbook\' because I would drive someplace and realize I had forgotten those items. I even wear a set of house keys around my neck to keep from getting locked out of my home.
I now have a running \'master list\' and the list gets updated daily. I list everything I need to do and scratch off each item as it is done. I have the list now broken down into two lists - one is LONG TERM what needs to be done but now today or tomorrow and I have a list of what needs to be done today and possibly tomorrow. It works for me as my memory is not so great at all anymore. There are ways to adapt - being highly organized and having a list. and even taping notes to the wall.
Very gentle ((hugs)) and do not go to a nursing home unless there is simply no choice for the abuse is awful in most facilities.

Sometimes I can\'t find my glasses and after looking \"everywhere\" to discover them on top of my head. I have lists of stuff to do too, And stuff I have lost, usually eventually turn up. I am always putting things in a \"good place\" so I won\'t lose them and then I forget where the good place is. I think that we have too many things to think about these days, and our brains are on overload. All we can do is laugh and be glad we still have a mind to forget with. LOL. Don\'t go to a nursing home. You would miss Foxy and she wouldn\'t have anyone to open goodies for her. Am I right or am I right?
