Oh I hate distance

God I hate the distance. From the time I was fifteen, I've been plagued by miles. Too many miles between my family and me. Too many lines on the road, too many cities, towns, states. All the way across the country. My heartstrings are stretched so far that I would swear they are already broken and my heart along with them. On Sundays I call my dad in Tennessee, my mother in Oregon, my daughter in Wisconsin. And tonight my heart breaks because there is nothing I can do to reach out for a hug, and I miss them all so much.
I miss my family. I never wanted to be this far away. I have been lonely for so many years. I hate the distance. It is so lonely and isolating. And it's always been that way. It's because of distance that we can't be there on the holidays. It's because of distance that we can't reach out and give each other a hug.
Distance makes me feel so alone.
