Officer Killed in the Line of Duty
It saddens me terribly knowing this news... I have long been a supporter and defender of working dogs... I have even made sure three police departments and one sheriff's department had bullet/knife proof vests... This could have been prevented if only the K-9 had defense capabilities every police officer has available... My heart is broken for the handler, and the entire law enforcement community on this day of sorrow...

Yes, I know about Rocco. But, know what? He did what he was supposed to do, his job, protecting his handler/partner, as any police officer would have done. I am greatly gladdened by the outpouring of support for this dog. When I first began my career as a Canine Behavior Expert, training was barbaric. Throughout the fives years of my live-on-the-air-every-Sunday-for-one-hour radio program, \"Bite Back\", I fought barbaric training methods. Not just me: others, such as Dr. Ian Dunbar, Karen Pryor, Turid Rugaas...the list goes on. And now: we have won and so have our dogs.
I assisted with supplying four city/county police K-9 units with bullet/knife proof vests... The reason I feel so deeply for this loss is it could have been prevented with a small sum of 2500.00 for each K-9 to receive these vests... That is the true tragedy...
it\'s nice of you to have helped out.
it\'s a tragedy govt money goes to the wrong stuff, when there is LOTS of govt money to still go around, even to criminals.
even a lot of American troops in Iraq didn\'t have good body armor.
Here they have a monument across the capital for fallen police dogs
That is wonderful annettearizona... They also have a webite for fallen K-9\'s which I found yesterday while perusing the topic... It could have been prevented... That is so very sad...
