off house arrest
Well.....we're in transition time right now and it doesn't feel very well. We were elated yesterday that things went smoothly in court and that his advocates worked on my son's behalf. My husband and I were, also, ecstatic that T apologized to us for his "BS behavior." And that apology was a pleasant surprise! If T-Man had crossed the line over the course of the last 30 days on probation he was on, he could have been sent to jail for, at least, a year! Instead, he is ordered into intense outpatient treatment, and - unfortunately - will not be starting for another few weeks.. He's one lucky guy, however, that we didn't report to the court that he had his girlfriend over while we were not home - a violation of his probation. He did that TWO days before his court hearing after having a great report the previous 28 days! He was sweating it out, thinking I might pipe up during the hearing like I have in the past, but I weighed the situation and took a chance. I did tell him, however, that he has not gotten off scott free and that we (his parents) will provide our own consequences for his infraction. He is not happy with me because I am following through on the consequences for his behavior. He was counting the days down that he would be "free" only to have greater restrictions than he expected to have getting off of house arrest. My husband and I haven't sat down with him prestenting the contract we had written, yet - so perhaps once we do that, things will be easier.
