Of Mice and Men, my dog, and Zhu Zhu pets!
I’ve got a couple funnies that I thought I would just throw out here. It doesn’t have to be serious all the time.
For a couple of weeks now, we have suspected that we have a mouse in the house. We caught one a few months ago, but my son says that he has been hearing another. Well, I can confirm that we do have one now. I was making my lunch before work the other day, and as I turned around to put something back in the pantry, I witnessed the mouse running right by me. Our dog, Sis, was in the kitchen with me, and she was sitting at the top of the stairs that lead from the edge of the kitchen/living room to the basement. The mouse ran right by me, in front of the dog, and then down the stairs. We both watched the mouse, and then I looked at her. She raised her eyes and looked back at me. Her expression seemed to say “What are you looking at me for? I’m not chasing that thing. I’m part Australian CATTLE Dog, and that was no cow!” I couldn’t help but laugh, and made a mental note that I needed to get some traps.
Fast forward a few hours. I remembered that my niece was having a birthday party in a few days, and I needed to get her a gift. She was turning 6, and I had no idea what to get her. I called her mom (Melissa’s sister) and she told me she was really into Zhu Zhu pets. For those that don’t know, Zhu Zhu pets are like little battery powered hamster toys. They roll all over the place, and you can get like a million accessories for them. Works for me, I thought. While I was at the store getting these toys, I remembered that I needed the traps. I went over and picked up a couple packages of glue traps. As I was holding them, it struck me as funny, the combination of items I was buying! Sure enough, at the check out line, the cashier had a priceless look on her face. I thought about telling her that we had a mouse I was trying to catch, and that I was going to set out the traps, and then “doll up” a Zhu Zhu pet with lipstick and a bow to try to lure the mouse into the traps. I played it straight, though. I’m sure she is probably telling her friends about some crazy guy that went through her line that day, and what he was buying.
I still have not caught the mouse. I’m beginning to think the mouse and dog are scheming against me!

LOL.. I had a mouse in the house (actually three - they travel in packs you know) this past fall. My niece was here visiting and she said in all serious, \"Oh, this is the worse thing that could happen\" and I deadpanned \"uh, no, actually, it\'s not\".. we both looked at each other for a long moment and then cracked up. it\'s good to laugh at the situation every now and then. And that dog? How cute it that??? ?
I really hate to have a mouse get into the house!! Joe was the one who set the traps when we had one. I could not sleep if I ever heard one in our room, so, he would get up and set a trap. Now, I have to!! HATE IT!! I found some that I do not have to touch any of the trap part....the trap is enclosed in a plastic box thing. Thank goodness I\'ve not had any lately!!!
Joe absolutely hated the glue traps. He told me NOT to get anymore of those kind of traps. He didn\'t like that they cried when on the traps ~~ then he had to kill them anyway. That freaks me out too! So, I had to look for something different.
I love the doggie watching it like \"what do you want me to do?\" My Pug tried to catch one and it was hilarious!! (The trap~~ that I don\'t have to touch -- caught it). LOL
Yep, we have to laugh sometimes, thats life!
Hugs, Joely
