Of Mice and Men
I was just thinking the other day how good things are for me right now. I am feeling great, joined the gym and exercising Enjoying not working right now, getting things done around the house and in the garden Made my plans for NJ and blah, blah blah. Then I thought, whenever things are going well in my life something comes along and spoils it. Well…this morning when I woke up I check the balance on the debit card that Unemployment deposits my money in. Well it was just about half of what it should have been. So I waited till 8:00 and called. They told me my benefits had run out. Now when I applied the letter said I could collect for one year. The lady on the phone said that is correct as long as you have enough funds in there. Apparently I did not. So they cut me off. Never got a letter or email or anything, warning me that my benefits were running out. Now I have to scramble to figure out what to do. I decided I would get my early SS and try to get a part-time job. The SS by itself is not enough. I was planning on doing that but after the summer. You know what they say about best laid plans. So I applied for my SS online. It was a long drawn out application, but I got through it. At the end it said you either have to mail your birth certificate and your last years W2 statement, or bring it into the office. So I decided to go up to the office, about a half hour ride. So I got up there waited about 45 minutes to get in but got it taken care of. I will not get my first check till July 9th. GRRRRRRRR.. When I got out of there it was pouring raining. I drove home on the freeway with white knuckles. I could not see the white lines. Then these big trucks would pass me by and send a wave of water over my car. Got home safe and sound. I put in and application at the heath club where I belong, to be a baby sitter. We will see what happens with that. Thanks for letting me rant. Have a great day,Anita

Oh Anita, I am sorry that you had to go through all of that. I HATE driving like that, with it raining so hard you can\'t see and trucks are so scary then. I would be holding my breath the whole time. Glad you got home safe. Good luck with the babysitting job. I know how much you love kids. Sorry you have to wait so long for your SS check. That will make it financially difficult. If they would have warned you, you could have made plans ahead of time instead of what you had to do.
Hope tomorrow brings a better day! (((HUGS)))
Thanks Julie. Yeah, if I had known I would have had all this done already.
Oh boy, this sucks! The one silver lining is that you\'ll get your ss next month, sometimes they can take for ever. I just got my SS diability and it couldn\'t have come at a better time...so I know exactly how you feel. I know things will work out for you. sending many hugs...

Congratulations Anita for handling such a monstrous situation so well ! I hope the babysitting jobs materialise soon ! Something sure will ! you are a spunky girl and you always handle problems with good sense and stamina .
What a shame nothing can be done about the way benifits are allowed to run out without a word of warning ! I wish you can write about your complaint to local paper/benifit agency boss/ benifit agency regulator ?
Loads of hugs to you ...............Monica
No wonder you said you needed my hug!!! Bless your heart!!!!! That is terrible that no one notified you that your money was running out!!!!! I am glad however that you acted quickly to get the ball rolling with SS !!!! Gosh!!!! Well, I am glad you got home safe and sound through all that nasty weather. As the saying goes...........whatever doesn\'t kill us makes us stronger........right?? I am so sorry you are going through such hard stuff right now..........this too shall pass!!!!! As much as you love taking care of your grandson I am sure you would love babysitting for people at your gym!!! Good thinking!!! Hugs!!!!!!!! Hang in there.......things will work out for you!!!!!
Oh My! In spite of this setback you need to focus on things being right for you. I am thinking that is the important lesson here. You do have many things that money can\'t buy...easier said than done...but true just the same. I have to wonder why you never were able to get disability because we do have what they call a terminal illness. I was told that all Ovarian Cancer patients qualify. It\'s surely not enough to pay for everything...and I don\'t pretend that having a second income isn\'t hugely making a difference in my life. I\'d just like to see something more positive happen in yours, in the money department.
Finding something part-time that gives you both $ and pleasure is the next thing we all need to be helping you with. Keep your attitude positive and remind people what you have been through. Ask something of other\'s humanity...it\'s amazing how it will turn things around.
hugs, lindamae
That varies from state to state. When I checked into it Tx did not consider that OC to be a disability. Cervical was and a couple of others, but OC was not in the mix. Thanks for your kind words and thoughfulness.
