Odds and ends
I haven't been paying much attention to my ebay business lately and my low sales reflect that. I haven't really felt motivated to put much time into it, prefering to spend more time outdoors so I have been going out for daily walks. I also bought a pole saw and have been trimming branches on some of my trees. My big apple tree had alot of dead ones that were out of reach of my chainsaw so I put the pole saw to good use. I discovered it was a little hard on my back since most of the weight is on the opposite end so I just did a little at a time, realizing, I'm not as young as I use to be. I took frequent breaks.
It's raining today so I spent a little time cleaning out my odds and ends drawer of which held lots of memories! I had a collection of jackknives which I'll never use. Some were collector's knives. I will probably just sell them as a lot on ebay. I came across a couple toenail clippers for dogs. I used these on my Boston Terrier when she was alive. I will donate them to a local animal shelter. I had old cassette tapes which I tossed. I can listen to all those old songs on you tube so I have no reason to keep them. I had alot of AA batteries in there and I had no idea if they were still good or not so I will try them in my camera and if it says replace, then I will know they are no good. I also found a tiny fm radio with an earphone and I remembered the only time I ever used it was 5 or 6 years ago, before I got a generator. It was the middle of winter and we had lost the power for nearly a week. My dog and I would cuddle together under the blankets to stay warm at night and I would try to get a station on that tiny little radio and when I finally did, it gave me such a good feeling. It was my only connection to the outside world at the time. I had to take a break and do something different after that. I'll save the odds and ends drawer for another time.
I like to walk a couple miles in the evening. I would rather run but have not been able to for various reasons. The route that I walk on, takes me down a short hill and then up this hill when I turn around to return home. The last time I walked, I was on the return trip and when I approached the foot of this hill, I started running just as hard as I could. When I reached the top. I looked up at the sky and said, "Pretty good for an old man, eh?" I continued home, walking the rest of the way and as I watched the sun set on another day, I felt at peace with myself and with the world around me.....
God Bless

That’s so nice Bob, I like that you enjoy nature. For some reason when I was reading this I thought about you getting a puppy :)
Big hug <3
Here's to your success! So glad you enjoyed the moment with the odds and ends drawer and then stepped away when you needed to.
I know about how it feels better to be outside in the beautiful weather!
You're doing awesome!
Sounds lovely, your walk/run....and ya, really Good for an Ole Man...cheeky
Yard work in your yard must be a challenge...I love the wooded area, but couldn't handle the cold of Maine...miss the beach house in Old Orchard, so many good memories there.
As for your draw, if that's all you have to clean out...well good on you!
Take care, ml
I really enjoyed this journal entry, especially the trip down memory lane. As for running up the hill, I can relate to that so much! I used to be a long-distance walker, but recent problems with my feet are keeping me closer to home. Kudos to you for reaching the top!
Thankyou everyone!
