October 10, 2011 - Just a quick update....
Hello everyone,
Thank you for reading my journals. It does make a difference that you guys are on my side in it all.
Today, Jen was off and so was Sonja, they both have kids to stay home with for the holiday. Today was columbus day for us americans and thanksgiving to all you canadian friends (or what we say "kanooks"). So, a lot of things weren't resolved because #1, Sonja wasn't in and she has all the info with the new grids and neither Arlene and I couldn't find it. #2. It was a holiday and all the schools were not in session.
Diane was in the office all day and sat at Sonja's desk all day. Seemed like Diane is fairly disgusted with the way the paperwork has been going (beyond disappointed). When talking to Arlene and I she was only looking Arlene's way. When looking at me, she looked right through me and didn't even acknowledge me. Yes! There is problems with the paperwork and Yes! it should have gotten taken care of a while back but haven't I taken steps to resolve this. Diane mentioned that University of Buffalo seemed rather upset over all the emails. Yes, that was the way things were taken care of but there were things that needed answers and the answers probably needed to be taken care of more than once. I don't get that from the other nursing colleges. They are all on my side. Thats what triggered my stress level again. I came in pretty calm but then Diane mentioned this and the knots in my stomach closed up again (plus my nerves, I had to hold myself from having another meltdown all day). Arlene will be my backup with the nursing coorespondance from now on. I met with her during the course of the day for about an hour and a half going through each scenario that I usually go through. We tore apart the schedule, had some handy questions to ask Diane about. I told her that there will be plenty of questions from her and I will welcome anything - I don't care if I have to hear them more than once. I am not going to attack her if she asks me. We all have to be clear and consise with this work. I look at it this way, if we get a call for school questions, both Sonja and Arlene will be able to answer this as good as anyone. No more waiting for me to get back. The last thing Diane said to me was "I will be emailing Jen about the paperwork issues". All I said was "ok", then I walked away - did not say goodbye to her or anything like that. At that point, Diane didn't deserve a goodbye from me. My stomach and nerves were shot to hell and almost lost it walking out of the building. Is that anyway to live? Yes bri, your right! I need to get my resume out there and NOW! Before I absolutely lose my mind because I am well on my way to getting on pills (thats not what I need to do). I am sitting here alittle upset about the whole situation. The last thing Arlene said was "we will get everything done on Wednesday" Diane didn't say anything to that, because I don't think she believes in what I am doing to get this resolved. Its going to take Mt Everest to convince both Jen and Diane that I can actually do things in the department without fail. Do I want to stick around to see this?? I know its been a week but I feel I am constantly going on a rollercoaster of emotions with everything that goes on in the department. Am I going to have to take a cut in pay with another job in order to get some sanity? Probably.
one good news is that I got Mary's extra seats in the classroom for her oversized cardiac classes starting tomorrow (31 out of 25 seats). I put the work order in last week but turns out I gave it to the wrong department. Should have been housekeeping. Arlene and I got this straightened out by me calling and her calling. Tracy, housekeeping supervisor came down and I explained everything, showed him what desk/chairs had to be moved from the classrooms upstairs on 6 down to our floor. They came up at 3:40pm with the 7 desk chairs, we put them in the classroom, moved the 2 long tables in the back and brought them into a small classroom downstairs. In exchange, we brought 7 chairs from the smaller classroom (not matching)and put them in the room where the desk chairs were. At least tomorrow, I won't have to deal with Mary ranting and raving asking why this wasn't done. I definitely don't need that. This will stay for about 5 weeks, or until 11/8. Since I couldn't get any answers to questions because the schools were closed, I at least wanted to get Mary's desk/chair situation resolved. I did.
I've been so bad, I haven't been running. The stress level has been so high that my nerves are shot and my mind hasn't been there to get out and run. All that hard work has been thrown on the wayside. I have fallen off the wagon with my diet. My weight has been pretty steady - 180. I can't say that my #'s have improved. Im still at 34%. I wonder if stress and nerves can make my kidney function #'s lower? This is something I need to talk to my nephrologist about. If that is the case, The only answer to that is get my resume out there and apply for new jobs. 20 years at a company - I guess it doesn't even matter anymore. Overall sanity would override years at a company.

Jen: No, this isn\'t any way to live! You should get your resume polished up and get on some of the online job sites. Monster.com is the only one I can think of. I took my resume to an employment agency and got my new job and I love it ... just overworked. I think that goes hand-in-hand with all jobs. But you don\'t have to put your health in harm\'s way by working such a stressful job. Are there any hospital postings for other positions you can do? I don\'t know how your facility is set up, so I don\'t know. Can you send me a message so that we can talk just us. I\'d love to talk about your situation with you in more detail that just here.
